Well, you did say no restrictions ;)

On the models you've listed I can't help you, as none of them apart from the Vento are on sale here. Well, they might be under a different name, but that doesn't really help a lot.

Generally speaking though, when in doubt by a Golf. Even if you're not really doubting.

To translate for our US members:

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Breeza = unique to India, Suzuki Vitara based (in the past it was the Chevrolet/Geo Tracker but this is wholly revamped)

Hyundai Creta = a "compact SUV" version of the Soul

Hyundai Verna = Accent

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz = a Suzuki Ciaz (never sold in the USA) built as part of a joint venture and built in India

Nissan Terrano = Renault/Dacia Duster, it is not a version of the Pathfinder

Honda City = Civic

Honda W-RV = Beefed up, jacked up version of the Fit

VW Vento = a version of the Polo (which is basically a small version of the Golf)

Ford EcoSport = compact SUV built on the Fiesta platform, not currently sold in the USA but will be built in India and imported to the U.S.

As for recommendations, I would say that the Civi.... City is the best one in your list but I don't have experience with most of the others and of course the City is built at a different plant than the Civic so it will have slightly different issues. But in the USA t is among the highest rated cars in its class.

I'm only familiar with the Dacia. In France this has a very cheap interior and infuriating trim limitations, even if you take the highest of the highest trim with a million options. Basically Dacias are made to make you buy Renaults, or if you just need an utilitarian car.

Of course under the Nissan guise it could be totally different, or that cheap interior could be alright for India. In the reverse a Polo is a higher end mini car in France but the "Vento" might have a different interior entirely.

Engines are usually not the same either.

Finally got down to Four:-
1.Mauti Vitara Breeza
2.Nissan Terrano
3.Hyundai Creta
4.Honda City

Probably will depend on the test drive, variants and parking space dimensions :)
#3 & 4 I think

I think you would be happy with either 3 or 4. My mother owns a Kia Soul which is related to the Creta and the car has been a good solid vehicle for her. And you know I already said the Civ... City is likely a very good car.

A polo is not a small version of the golf, they are built on unrelated platforms.

Going forward the Polo will also be underpinned by the MQB.

I thought it was just yesterday (well figuratively, it was probably a couple of years ago) you were considering the CRV. Already onto your next car?

I would still opt for Honda W-RV. It appears to be close to H-RV here in the States.
H-RV is also based on FIT. It has larger engine here.
I drove my 1st Generation H-RV in Russia for 15 years.
There is no better investment.
It should be said that your choice should also depend on your household.
If you have a family and kids, then go Honda City. Which is a "no-frill" version of Civic.
But Honda - no doubt.

Can't understand why you dumped the Ford EcoSport.

The Fiesta's platform is one of Ford's most celebrated small vehicle underpinnings for decades. Fiestas handle excellently, and the new generation of Ford engines are also looking to be as good as the brand's heritage suggests. Just for the Fiesta platform I'd be seriously looking at it.

it isn't hard on the eyes either. Quite a chunky little crossover design.
