LHR disruption....protesters chained in tunnel !

Tue Feb 21, 2017 10:53 am

So we had a warm February day in west London yesterday, up to 18C, and I suppose these idiots think it's all the fault of the planes at LHR causing " global warming " and have now disrupted transport in the whole LHR approach area with their stupid action.

Get a battery powered angle grinder to cut them free , a tow truck to tow the car away and the problem would be solved in perhaps 15 minutes,
The police are getting to soft

They need to face it.They should be fined and locked up for disruption(if that's how it's spelled).I feel sorry for the number of people who miss their connections.

Here's a picture.

"The disruption caused widespread delays, as traffic was diverted to the outbound tunnel at the airport."

The BBC reports that they have been arrested on suspicion of obstructing a highway. If they wind up being charged with that offence (and not say something more serious) and are convicted (or plead guilty) then they are looking at a fine of up to £1000. It's not unusual for the initial arrest to be for something lower level and then for the charge to be for something a little more serious.

Also (and I'm not condoning anything that happened on the roads around LHR today here) some of you might find this link interesting: http://www.davidsuzuki.org/issues/clima ... te-change/

The road was closed for "more than 2 hours"???

Why oh why can't we seem to get anything done in the UK in a reasonable timeframe? This obstruction should have taken, at the very most, 30 minutes to clear.

Yet harmless members of the public get a £40 fine for picking up family members at departures!

Apparently one of these idiots was taken to a hospital afterwards " as a precaution ".....as if hospitals and the NHS aren't busy enough....

The linked article is interesting, not really badly written, and deserving of separate discussion. It should be noted that it is based, at least in part, on 1999 data, and not on modern, more fuel efficient, aircraft.

A bit off topic but travelling back to Fort McMurray yesterday, I had seen a big billboard explaining that we are being lied to about the con trails left behind the aircraft in flight. Was a bit astonished really to see it on the highway heading to the Mac. I will see if I can get a picture of it next time I am down that way. The world is getting a bit crazy with it, but I can see why the warm winter could be make people think more about the causes of Global warming. Heck, we just had Jane Fonda here blasting the oilsands.

Just hope that in April LHR doesn't have any Trump or Global warming protests. Family trip

Would this be the same group behind the protests that closed the LCY runway somewhere last year?

Airport Fire Department water cannon with permanent, pink dye in the water. Good training for the ARFF and the jerks are marked for weeks.

talk about yearning for an identity. government sells out their country, no jobs left, this is all they have to do. very sad indeed.

You can check out Suzuki easily enough online. He is yet another one of the "do as I say, not as I do" crowd who regularly flies around the world to tell us how bad flying around the world is, all while living in a lifestyle that he is telling everyone else to abandon.

It`s nauseating that our authorities treat these anarchists with a kid glove approach.
A bull-dozer would have cleared that tunnel in a jiffy.....why the f@%k not?!

A bulldozer and sweeper truck would have them out of there in ten minutes.

Parking cars in the tunnel which runs under the runway should be treated as an act of terrorism and dealt with swiftly and assertively.

Geez, guys...

It's just a bunch of hippies doing what they do.

They ruined the day of some travelers and were extremely counter-productive in trying to pass a message. The usual.
If anything, they managed to show that LHR is a mess of an airport that cannot incur a disturbance without being plunged into chaos.

But they'll get fined and we'll all move on. No need to start putting up the gallows...

The time will come when a protester does this and someone about to miss their flight will simply walk up and beat them around the head with a tyre iron. Its only a matter of time.
