How many people would you get on the Fabulous Faces at Sea charter? Just curious.

It's not a charter (ie, not chartering the ship); it's a group on a regular scheduled cruise (a group cruise in other words). There are many examples of group sailings on regular cruises (special interest groups, religious groups, etc). Other notable examples of group cruises are Autism on the Seas (a group of families with autistic children and volunteer guides from the organisation Autism on the Seas who accompany them and help with the children), and a group cruise for families of children with Apert syndrome (another craniofacial syndrome) led by a family I know from Children's Craniofacial Association. A group cruise is when a group book a block of cabins and make arrangements for space on the ship to host group functions and sometimes arrange group-specific shore excursions. On the 2016 inaugural FFAS Craniofacial Cruise, my travel agent booked a block of cabins, and she and I arranged for conference room usage at sea for a seminar my mom and I presented to our group and for an ice cream social our group had. We also did a private group shore excursion at Coki Beach on St. Thomas. For my 2018 cruise, we will do similar arrangements, this time more focused on adults with craniofacial conditions.

On the other hand, a charter cruise is a cruise wherein a sufficiently large group (special interest, religious, fandom, whatever) arrange to charter a whole ship and do a special cruise for that group (which takes the ship off a normal rotation, sometimes cancelling a previously scheduled regular cruise for this reason). For example, I'm going on a Star Trek themed full-ship-charter cruise, called Star Trek: The Cruise, 9-15 January 2017. This will be the first officially licensed Star Trek cruise (licensed by CBS), and hosted by such Star Trek luminaries as William Shatner (he will "captain" the cruise) and others from the various series and films. This is a fandom charter. Future Star Trek: The Cruises are planned for 2018, 2019, and possibly subsequent years to come. There have been Star Trek charter cruises before, but none were officially licensed, just informal fan chartered cruises. This cruise is being run by Entertainment Cruise Productions. Other charter cruises are run by ECP and other charter companies who specialise in chartering whole ship cruises for music and other cultural interests, as well as other fandom franchises (NASCAR, NFL football, you name it) and even for religious groups (Charles Stanley, a Christian pastor/speaker, charters a whole ship each year to run an Alaska cruise featuring preaching, music, activities, and shore excursions for the whole group).

Anyway, this past August (6-14 August 2016) was my inaugural Fabulous Faces at Sea group cruise. I had 17 including myself, my mother, and a large family group with a little girl with the same syndrome as I have.

For the April 2018 cruise, I am reaching out to adults like myself who are affected by craniofacial anomalies and anyone else interested who is in the craniofacial community (families are welcome too, as are scientific or medical professionals in the field, etc.). Hopefully our group will be bigger.

British passenger missing from Queen Mary 2 liner

The US Coast Guard have launched a search effort to locate an elderly British woman missing from the Queen Mary 2 ocean liner.
The ship, operated by the UK-based Cunard Cruise Line, left New York on Thursday and was en route to St Maarten in the Caribbean.

Voyages of Discovery and Swan Hellenic: Cruise firms go bust leaving 13,000 passengers high and dry

‘Perfect storm’ of geo-political upsets and cost increases led to failure

On the day when around 500 passengers booked with a leading cruise line were due to begin a New Year voyage from Malaysia, the company has collapsed – along with a sister firm.

Voyages of Discovery, part of the All Leisure Group, cancelled the cruise aboard the Voyager to Borneo, Cambodia, Thailand and Singapore two days before the New Year. Its sister company, Swan Hellenic, did the same for a cruise due to depart on 3 January.

Passengers were told the cancellations were for “operational reasons”. But now All Leisure has ceased trading and all future holiday bookings with the company are now cancelled.

This Sunday (8 January) I'm leaving for Miami (DL DEN-ATL-MIA), staying overnight at the MIA Hotel (that's built into the MIA terminal), and catching my next cruise--Star Trek: The Cruise (9-15 January). It's a full-ship charter cruise for Trekkies from round the world, hosted by William Shatner (Captain James T. Kirk on the original Enterprise, TOS). The other Star Trek stars on board include Marina Sirtis (Counselor Deanna Troi on Enterprise-D, TNG), Robert Picardo (the holographic Doctor on Voyager, VOY), Chase Masterson (Leeta, the Bajoran dabo girl on DS9), Denise Crosby (Tasha Yar, security officer on Enterprise-D, TNG), Max Grodenchik (Rom, brother of Quark on DS9), Robert O'Reilly (Klingon chancellor Gowron, TNG & DS9), Terry Farrell (Jadzia Dax, DS9), John de Lancie (the superbeing Q on TNG, DS9, and VOY), and Ethan Phillips (Neelix, VOY).

The cruise will feature nonstop Star Trek activities aboard ship, as well as opportunities to meet the aforementioned stars, and most importantly, fellowship among us Trekkies at sea. The three ports of call are Cozumel (where I have booked the tour of the Tulum Mayan ruins), Great Stirrup Cay (NCL's private island in the Bahamas), and Nassau.

The ship is Norwegian Cruise Line's Jewel-class ship, Pearl.

This is the first officially licensed Star Trek cruise in what will become an annual series. The next Star Trek: The Cruise is scheduled for January 2018 (2 sailings back to back due to high demand), using NCL Jade (another Jewel-class ship). But I will skip that one due to the fact I will be moving in 2018 somewhere else on Earth and also that I'm organizing and planning my next craniofacial cruise (Fabulous Faces at Sea II: The 2018 Craniofacial Cruise) for April 2018; I couldn't do 2 cruises so close together, and since the craniofacial cruise is my baby, it trumps the 2018 Star Trek cruise. The Star Trek cruise will also be offered in 2019, and possibly subsequent years, and I plan to rejoin it when I can.

Well, a sad day, but a good day, i'm going to have to cancel our trans Atlantic on the QM2 in Dec, even though I got a cracking deal, my wife's family have been invited to the 100th birthday celebration for a gentleman in Germany, normally I would say that's nice, but this man helped my father in laws parents escape from Germany at the start of WW II and of course in turn escape the concentration camps that claimed so much of her family, so of course we were honored to be invited, im sure it will be an emotional time for all, but not something we would ever miss.

Did some cruise ship spotting in Arrecife last week. A lot of AIDA ships and then NCL and TUI. Swan Hellenic was due to call but obviously cancelled due to their demise. Also Pullmantur Horizon ( Former Celebrity ship was in town ).

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Announces Order for Next Generation of Ships for Norwegian Cruise Line
Company Contracts with Fincantieri S.p.A. to Build Four New Ships with Option for Additional Two

MIAMI, Feb. 16, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. (Nasdaq:NCLH) (together with NCL Corporation Ltd., "Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings", "Norwegian" or the "Company") today announced it has reached an agreement with Fincantieri S.p.A. to construct the next generation of extraordinary ships for its Norwegian Cruise Line brand. Four ships are on order for delivery in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025, with an option for two additional ships to be delivered in 2026 and 2027.

The four 140,000 gross ton ships will each accommodate approximately 3,300 guests. The new class of ships will build upon the highly successful offering of freedom and flexibility found on the brand's most recent Breakaway-Plus Class ships and feature a host of innovative designs that will further elevate its already award-winning guest experience. A priority of the prototype design is energy efficiency, with the aim of optimizing fuel consumption and reducing the impact on the environment. Details on the ships' many innovative guest facing and first at sea features will be announced at a later date.

"This new class of ships will continue Norwegian Cruise Line brand's legacy of introducing meaningful innovation to the cruise industry," said Frank Del Rio, president and chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. "This order continues to highlight our disciplined newbuild program, extends our growth trajectory well into the future, enhances our already attractive earnings profile, and drives expected long-term returns for our shareholders."

"For the past 50 years, Norwegian Cruise Line has been focused on offering our guests the very best in cruising," said Andy Stuart, president and chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line. "It is with great excitement that we look ahead to our next 50 years, which includes this next generation of ships that will offer guests the innovative experiences that have come to define the Norwegian Cruise Line brand."

"We are extremely excited to collaborate with Norwegian Cruise Line and this partnership allows us to include a new prestigious client in Fincantieri's portfolio," said Giuseppe Bono, CEO of Fincantieri S.p.A. "We are very proud of the innovative design of these ships and recognize the various stakeholders of the export chain who have contributed decisively to achieving this goal. The significant value of the order will provide substantial economic benefits by extending the employment horizon of our shipyards, and we are honored to support the growth of our country's economy."

The contract price for each of the four vessels is approximately €800 million per ship. The Company has obtained export credit financing with favorable terms to fund 80 percent of the contract price of each ship delivered through 2025, subject to certain conditions.

I'm just going to switch it over to the following year, but no, Cunard would not guarantee me that rate for 2019.....Can't say I blame them really.

If you keep an eye out, there are always some stupidly cheap deals to be had on Trans Atlantic Repo cruises (though not on Princess sadly) and yes, being able to lay back and think about nothing is fantastic.

I am also keeping an eye on Pullmantor, while not a 5 star line, they are decent and their trans Atlantic prices are insanely cheap.

I find Epic to be the top of what I find acceptable. It's a big ship but it's not a mega ship. I don't think I could to the RCI's Oasis or Quantum classes for how big they are (unless I'm forced to be stuck on the ship for a long time). Epic seemed to be perfectly sized for all its amenities and offered a little bit of everything for all ages.

I prefer the smaller ships and the Jade is still my favourite NCL ship. There is a market for everything but personally I can do without the water slides and gimmicks. Having said that I usually enjoy all the ships I am on and the Harmony was surprisingly well thought out and spacious. The one thing that surprised me on Cunard back in November was the number of younger people. Quite a few solo young professionals who were on the ship because they like a cruise ship more then the offerings on board. Some were very much into their technical data / engineering knowledge. Great to see it.

On the topic of NCL they seem to be having issues with the Star.

Is Norwegian Star the unluckiest cruise ship at sea? Blighted vessel abandons another five ports of call

Norwegian Star passengers have faced multiple disappointments

A cruise ship whose voyages have on several occasions been blighted by mechanical breakdown and missed ports of call has been given the all-clear.

The stricken vessel, Norwegian Star, has set sail once again from Melbourne, five days after its propulsion system failed at sea shortly after the start of a voyage to Auckland.

More than 3,000 passengers were aboard when she lost power about 20 miles off the coast of Victoria. After she had drifted for some time, a tug towed her back to land.

The latest breakdown follows a three-week cruise from Asia to Australia which was blighted by mechanical problems on the 16-year-old ship.

It's right up there, though I have a soft spot for the Norwegian Dream in this category, as an acquaintance of mine wrote on his review on the Dream during a South America cruise.

"We departed Montevideo under clear skys at 5:00 PM amid anticipation of an exciting day at sea as we steamed to our next Port of Call, Puerto Madryn and its famed colony of Penguins.

We had actually made it a mile or so out to sea before we rear-ended the Suzuki Grand Vitara. Well, technically speaking, I guess we first rammed the Japanese Cargo Barge, Tira Mizzou, knocking a half dozen Suzukis and an untold number of steel cargo containers into the shallow sea. It was then that we rear-ended one of the Suzukis.

As you might well imagine, this turn of events caused confusion, concern and, yes, even panic among the passengers. Several of our passengers, God bless them, showed up at their Abandon Ship station wearing their life jackets. Others noted that another NCL ship, the Marco Polo had heaved to on our port side and it was rumored that it was preparing to pick up survivors. The more experienced cruisers took advantage of this confusion to move to the head of the dinner line at the Four Seasons Restaurant – a clear advantage when Free Style cruising.

After bobbing around in the estuary for several hours while the crew assessed the damage to the Dream, it was announced that with the front end of our ship now missing it would be too dangerous to put out to sea and that we would be returning to Montevideo to effect repairs and that we would continue the cruise at 4:00 PM tomorrow.

However, all the cargo containers and SUVs settled into the harbor channel, effectively closing the Port of Montevideo to all traffic – both coming and going.

So there we sat. A free open bar, lights ablaze, and the band playing on while we noted that our ship now held the record for the most Japanese tonnage sunk since 1945."

If you have never read any of SailorJack's reports, spend a couple of lazy hours enjoying a slightly warped take on cruising.

While at SXM we watched the Harmony of the Seas depart, the wife caught a pretty good look at the 2 story suites, needless to say she wants to travel in one now, I can see her having the same feeling regarding these two level suites.

Norwegian Cruise Line has released renderings of their new ships from "Project Leonardo" which are due to arrive from 2022. Interesting that they're heading to Fincantieri for these. Other than Norwegian Epic (which was to be one of three ships) and Pride of America, every new ship since 2000 has been built in Germany by Meyer Werft.

As predicted, the wife made an orgasm like noise, then decided to look at booking a cruise in one, to quote her "are they out of their f***ing minds", so I had a look, $5k pp for a 7 day cruise....Yeah, okay it's a 2 story 450sq ft suite, but, it's still on Celebrity, throw another grand at the cost and you can get a 12 day Caribbean cruise on Seabourn. I understand some people will snap these suites up, but I just don't see the value there.

On a different note, we are back from our 14 day tour of the Caribbean on the Carnival Pride :

On the plus side:

The suite was nice, we had one of the aft wraps with the huge balcony which made a great place to view the Panama canal transit from for us and or 18 friends traveling with us.

The service was great....Well let me be honest here, on the first night our group was seated at 2 tables (remember there were 20 of us) next to each other, however, there were 2 different serving teams, or table was done with our meal before the other table had gotten their entrees, we spoke with the assistant Maitre d' who explained that there was nothing they could or would do, this went down like a lead balloon, while of course seating 20 people is a head ache, the fact that there were plenty of open tables in the same area, but after a long day of traveling, I really wasn't in the mood to deal with it, however the wife was, she called our friend who works at Carnival Corporate (we were still in Tampa bay so cellphones worked) and left him a voicemail. We then headed off for drinks as a friend happened to be playing on board for this cruise.

By the time we got back to the suite there were a plate of chocolate covered strawberries (if something goes wrong on a Carnival cruise the first thing they do is send a plate of chocolate covered strawberries) this was followed by a bottle of champagne. The next night we headed to the dining, by this time I was nicely recovered from the travel and ready to have a little conversation with the assistant Maitre D', however, it was not to be, instead the head Maitre D' (Ken) was waiting for us, he apologized for the "miscommunication" and we now had 2 tables reserved for us for the whole cruise (now here is the thing, s**t rolls down hill, but, as I made clear, I was not expecting 2 tables to be held for us for the entire cruise, this inconveniences the staff AND other passengers who may have wanted to sit in a large group), while this did help the mood of the party, Carnival (and Ken) still had a key card to play, enter Vlad, the waiter, how can I put this, the man could make a very good living as a male model, the ladies in our group (and thankfully the wife) were silenced just by Vlad smiling at them, you could literally hear the ovaries in the group going into overdrive, the males, well we were more in shock at the masterful move by Ken. It turns out that Vlad is not only a stunning looking man, but he is a great waiter AND the type of guy I would happily spend time having a beer with, which in fact we did when we ran into him at Eagle Beach on Aruba, where he was of course wearing a speedo and was probably the only guy on the beach who should have been wearing one.

Anyways, dining drama sorted, sort off, there are two thing I have always liked about Carnival, the bed and the food, while the bed was very comfortable, the food, dear lord, a year or so ago Carnival rolled out a series of "enhancements", while they tried to spin it as "what our guests asked for", well frankly, that's bulls**t, there were a couple of dishes that were spectacular, but (for Americans) think of a Denny's interpretation of a meal (for the Brits) think of a Toby carvery instead of your mothers Sunday roast (for the rest, think crap food), the other thing they have done is take away table clothes, because, well passengers asked them to and it had nothing to do with the laundry costs/savings, so now you have 700-800 passengers seated at glass topped tables, that make a nice noise anytime they set something down on them, along with the added game of "in anything less than flat seas you have to chase your food/cutlery/glasses as they slide around the table" a fun game for a day or two, but it got old quickly, though thankfully we had just left the dinning room on the last Saturday when a rather nasty wave rocked the ship pretty well and of course, 800 sets of plates, glasses and cutlery went flying off the tables, it was a mess and I really felt sorry for the crew who had to clean it up and i'm almost certain a couple of the women in our group rushed back in to tend to any injuries Vlad may have suffered, or help him clean off any spills on his uniform.

Okay, that's enough for now, I will continue tomorrow.

The rendering of the new NCL ships make Norwegian Epic look decent, though I gotta say, Norwegian Epic was perfect in every aspect. I'm certain subsequent ships improved on Epic's amenities.

You know...we talk a lot about cruise ships...what about planning a cruise trip altogether? Who would be interested? We can open a separate thread to discuss dates and itineraries.

Fri Mar 17, 2017 8:45 pm

To carry on :

Ports :

Cozumel : We've been here so many times now we were actually planning on spending the day on the ship just to get some peace and quiet, however, a couple we were traveling with talked us into going on a snorkeling/beach excursion with them, i'm glad we did, it turned out to be a great day out, though, the reef we were taken to was sadly pretty much dead, something we are seeing to much off now on our trips.

Limon Costa Rica : I had arranged for a private tour for the us and the same couple, however the ship was a little late in docking and then had to use just one gangway, where of course Carnival decided to put a series of photographers who wanted to get peoples pictures with various "native" things, throw in the average age of the passengers on this cruise was somewhere around the Jurassic age (though many of them managed to have a lot of fun on the cruise, especially the couple in the aft cabin next to ours who despite being in their 70's insisted on making full use of their balcony late at night...If you get my meaning) so getting off the ship took ages, however, I had booked the trip through a reputable tour company and still held out hopes that the tour in some form could be done...Silly me...By the time we made it out of the area selling traditional Costa Rican stuff (made in China) our tour guide was nowhere to be seen, however there were plenty of taxi drivers offering the same type of tours. The ladies selected one and off we went.

First stop was a river tour of the canals, which was pretty interesting, though the humidity became pretty oppressive quickly, next stop was supposed to be the Jaguar rescue center, however, it became pretty clear that there was no way we could make it there, take the 2 hour tour and make it back to the ship in time, so the decision was made to detour to the Sloth Rescue center.

http://www.slothsanctuary.com/

The wife was not happy about this, she had her heart set on holding a baby Jaguar, but, if you look at the link above, the Sloth pictured is named Buttercup, Buttercup, either through animal instincts or just being a flirt, decided she wanted to touch the tall white guy, it had been made clear that in no way, shape or form were we to touch the Sloths, however, nobody bothered to tell Buttercup this, Sloths are slow moving creatures, who in no way should be able to sneak up onto the shoulder of a guy paying attention....Well no, Sloths can move at a fair speed when they want to, they also have an amazing reach AND, though they look something like a giant cat, they are actually very strong....Oh and they have 4-6 inch nails that they use to hook things, like the big white guys shoulder, this scene of course had the wife in a panic, that would explain her laughter and sudden need to take lots of pictures (for evidence incase the Sloth ate me I think), it was of course at the moment that Buttercup was using me as a climbing frame that the owner of the center decided to walk in, the look she gave me was an obvious "didn't you listen when I said no touching....Idiot..." look, but to her credit all I got was a "that's a first" and "no sudden movements please, you don't want her to squeeze you"...Yes 4-6 inch nails...Not a good idea.

Well the nice lady separated Buttercup and myself, Buttercup was not happy about this and tried to reach me again, of course this whole scene had made the wife rethink her attitude towards Sloths and honestly, this stop turned out to be one of the highlights of the whole cruise, I could sit and watch Buttercup for hours, the carefully planned movements, the flexibility and the personality of her I found fascinating.

Then it was off back to the ship.

Continue tomorrow.

Panama Canal :

This "port" was one of the major reasons for booking this cruise, even though I have been to Panama before, I never got to see the canal, on this trip we would be making a transit through the Gatun locks then cruising around Gatun Lake. We decided early on to take advantage of the huge balcony we had to invite our friends over to view the transit, with the balcony wrapping around the port aft of the ship this made for a great viewing spot for those wishing to suffer through the Panama sun.

I found the whole process fascinating, from the little row boat that greets every ship with the lines to hook up to the mules to the speed with which the docks fill and empty, the old door systems, it was a very interesting transit. We stayed up on Gatun lake for a few hours, pretty much in one place which wasn't great IMHO, but with the amount of traffic in a confined space I guess it's understandable. We were passed by the Star Legend (ex Seabourn Legend) looking very nice (and small) in the afternoon sun. We've been talking about switching our cruising over to smaller ships, less crowds to deal with, not having to walk so far to get anywhere, more intimate time all around.

Around 3pm we headed back down the locks, same process, just going down instead of up. All in all a good day, certainly one that I am happy to have done.

Aruba : While our friends had a ATV excursion planned, we decided to have an easy day and just head to Eagle Beach and relax, the majority of the the passengers raced off the ship to enjoy the shopping in town, listening to the cruise directors speech about the great shopping to be had, ignoring the fact that it was a Sunday and the majority of the stores would be closed.....Oh well, good exercise for them.

A quick 10 minute $20 cab ride had us at Eagle, $20 later and we had a couple of loungers and chairs. It was a nice relaxing day, the only issue we really had was, we were about a week early for the "season", so a lot of the food/drink outlets were closed, luckily there was a beach volleyball tournament going on and we were able to buy water etc them.

As mentioned earlier, we also ran into Vlad and one of the hostesses from the MDR we shared a drink with them before they went off walking and I tried to calm the wife down :-)

Bonaire :

We've been here a couple of times but never ventured outside of the port area, the simple reason being, you walk off the ship, turn left, walk 500 ft and then enter the water and you can snorkel/scuba all day right there.

This time however we decided to explore a little, we set up a tour of the whole island, this would take a bout 3 hours including a stop for lunch. The tour was interesting, we got to see the "American" area (big houses, high walls) which reminded me of a few areas around Scottsdale 9with sea views of course), the guide actually laughed when mentioning the walls, it seems that crimes such as burglary are not that common on Bonaire, the #1 crime is...Goat theft....

We stopped at the Sorobon Beach Resort, OMG what a place, the road leading up to it is 3rd world at best, but wow, once you're through the gates what a place, what a location, why travel all the way to Tahiti when you can stay here, i'm not joking, I could spend some serious R&R time here.

Anyways, back to the ship time, we were dropped off in the town square, right next to a little market area that had opened up, this gave the wife the chance to double Bonaire's GDP with some well thought out purchases....Extra suitcase was purchased at the next stop to carry all the junk.

Abuse of alcohol can have dire consequences. A 23 year old passenger fell off the Carnival Victory last night, well 3am would be this morning wouldn't it and is missing. Cuban and US authorities are searching the area.

Sorobon Beach Resort haven been there since 2007, and then the owners sold the place. Checking out the web site, looks like the place was given a new coat of paint of bright colors, beyond that the facility looks the same except for it's clientele. Great place to recharge...

Thanks for the updates nice read :)

In the meantime Ive found your next cruise ;)

Kim's cruise line: North Korea snubs sanctions with luxury liner and casino plan

KIM Jong-un is courting investors in a bid to buy a cruise ship for North Korea.

Sanctions restrict trade with the hermit kingdom, but that hasn't stopped Kim setting out his stand.

He wants $20million (£16million) to buy the Royale Star, a Soviet-era cruise ship, to boost its tourism industry.

Hmmm, tempting, but I don't think so, somehow I think they would manage to get below even Carnivals low standards for food.

As it is, we actually have no cruises planned right now, i'm still dealing with the QM2 crossing going down the drain, i'm thinking maybe Alaska next year, but i'm waiting to hear if a friend gets a new job (CFO of a very up market line), if he does then all plans go out the window.

According to wikipedia, the next Oasis class ship will be named Symphony of the seas and will be slightly bigger than Harmony. Lots of free publicity once again. I would be surprised if the last Oasis class ship due in 2021 wouldn't again be slightly bigger than Symphony.

:-) Any guesses for the name of the fifth and final ship? My bet is on Melody of the Seas.

What about Haven of the Seas (keeping in tune with oasis)?

In related news, the final ships of the Quantum class have been named: Passion of the Seas and Pulse of the Seas.

It's a possibility, but it seems that Oasis and Allure are kept in a separate category since they were built in Finland and the other 3 that are built in France are named slightly differently, at least based on the two we already know (Harmony & Symphony)

For some classes, CRI has done with thematic names, but for the most part there isn't an obvious rhyme or reason to their naming scheme.

I've just heard down the grapevine that the former Saga Ruby/Vistafjord/Caronia is heading to the breakers.

Recently back from a mini trip on the QM2 and first time seeing it after the refurb. Have to say its looking as good as ever and this time I went for Grills Suite with Grills dining and I have to say it was top notch. The butler service was great too.

A few pics I took:

Totally unique, the entire superstructure seems to fully envelope the entire hull from above, no forecastle. The bow is wedged shape and it forms a curving line from the bow all the way to the back of the ship from the side elevation.

I was recently invited on board Oceania Nautica for a tour and Gala Luncheon. I have to say I was impressed by it. Smaller ship very personal and very much focusing on gourmet food and service. Very homely I think I would call it.

The wood paneling and the pediment on the atrium gives the ship an estate vibe.

Celebrity Edge is a ship designed to change the way you experience the world. A perfect example of this is the mind-blowing new venue, Eden. We invite you to indulge every sense in a transformative atmosphere that changes from chillful mornings to playful afternoons to sinful evenings.

Celebrity Edge introduces the industry-changing concept of outward facing spaces designed to build a greater connection between you and the sea. Eden is the essence of this concept, a true window to the world—literally. It’s three levels of sensory experiences completely wrapped in glass. Three stories of windows that look out to the ocean, with two areas of al fresco seating on both sides of Eden for breathing in the refreshing salt breezes.

The sheer size of Eden will amaze everyone who enters. It’s by far the grandest space we’ve ever designed that purposefully connects you to the sea—and the exciting destinations beyond.

Saw the pics and the video, very interesting ship especially on how the ship is designed inside with plants as part of the main design. Very innovative, hope to sail on her someday.
