Hotel India On BBC
Just watched this series aired in the BBC about a premium hotel in India. Looked very much contrived, the staff going round checking watermarks on glasses.....my sides are splitting.... Yet another piece of tripe heavily edited for the BBC

Saw the same. I've stayed at the Taj Mahal several times before and after the unfortunate terrorist attack and I found the hotel to be adequate but not great, I haven't stayed in any of their suites larger than the 1 bedroom. The service is professional and it's nice to talk to many of the staff who have been around for over 30 years. I do feel they lack the warmth that exists in other upscale hotels in India. I didn't stay in any of the lofty suites featured in the documentary but I've definitely never felt the aura that they're trying to portray.
I feel that after the attacks the renovation of the rooms was hastily done and the decor doesn't seem as consistent or great as it used to be.
I've had to change locations because of where I need to be in Mumbai and have been staying at the Grand Hyatt for the majority of my trips in the last decade or so. I've found this property to be far superior. The staff are young, energetic, and proactive. The hotel is the polar opposite of the Taj with a lot of modern art.
All of this being said, high tea at the Sea Lounge is something I do every time I'm in town.
