Having read your profile, I kinda have the same personality, I'm sarcastic too! So dont take offence when I say this...
But most Americans dont know much about the world & who's in it. They only know their own state. Correction, they only know their own city.
I work for a US Company but am a Brit living in the UK (that means a british dude living in England) and it doesnt surprise me AT ALL that they wouldn't have heard of the Manic Street Preachers!!!!!!!
This group won all the music awards around last year & yet I'm still not surprised that you US folk there haven't heard of them.
It just goes to show, that the Americans know nothing about whats happening in the world!

they are 3 guys from Wales. they have many albums. there original singer disappeared, he has still not materialized, possible suicide. they are huge in the uk. and are currently not taking off in the u.s. I saw them play in london, not my cup of tea..but not terrible.

I remember they got blasted cos at the 1999 Glastonbury festival they had private porta-potties brought in, and no one else could use them. The got a bad rap for that. Thats about all I know.
