Congolese Air Force DC-8 9T-TCN
Hi all i just reading on a website that says congolese air force DC-8 has been refurbished and now active flying as december 2018. Did anyone can confirm or take picture of that plane actually flying?

Refurbishment of a 54 year old DC-8 seems unlikely. Any other data you might have read?

Somehow can't imagine how this was financially more sensible than buying a younger used frame?

They already own it, it's been in storage but any pre owned type would likely need maintenance, they might even have a pile of spares as so few of these are flying now.
They also likely had flightcrews with at least some recent experience on the type - again probably hard to come by.

Seriously, who cares ? A glorious piece of aviation history is flying again, lets hope it stays in service for years to come.

Maybe the operative costs for a certain period of time considered by them is lower for this situation than the alternative of buying and operate ( with due costs ) a younger airframe, for example a used 733/319 or a younger model.
