Charles and Diana 1983 Australia Visit - RAF 707?
I saw this photo today and was curious to know what a/c it was taken on. What would Charles and Diana have taken to Australia in '83? RAF? RAAF?

A intersting find.
I haven't seen that photo before.
The RAAF operated 707s and BAC 1-11s in the VIP role at the time, but the 707s' primary role was AAR and transport, with VIP as secondary. I believe that the 707s' VIP fit out was fairly basic but I have only seen a few 'close up' photos of PMs and other VIPs inside them, and no 'wider' interior shots. I have no idea what the interior of the 1-11s looked like, or of the RAF's VIP VC10 fit out for that matter.
I am curious now too which aircraft and operator this photo shows, but I have a strong feeling that it is an RAAF 707 as I know it was used at times on that and other Royal tours in the 80s.
I guess the British magazines on the bulkhead aren't a clue as they could've been placed onboard either an RAF or RAAF jet for Di's reading pleasure.

I can’t work out how to include a photo, but a google search for other photos of this visit shows them embarking and disembarking from an RAAF 707.

When UK royalty visits the Antipodes they are usually flown out on RAAF or RNZAF transports or hired in commercial jets and at the expense of the Australian or New Zealand tax payer ! The return leg might be an RAF jet.

She never wore the same dress twice, national Archives show it was a 707 taken in 1985 not 1983

Zeke; there are times when you absolutely amaze me. Outstanding observational skills.
Here are two photos from the earlier 1983 visit, with Charles & Di noticeably two years younger.
There isn't much to go on in the first photo, but I'm guessing BAC-1-11 A12-124 or -125, based on the integral airstairs, the way the door is hinged back, the pitot alignment with the lower part of the door, and primarily the height of Diana (standing on the tarmac) in comparison to the door opening.
Clearly the second shot is an RAAF B707 - [Edit - have I got that wrong? The cheat line is very black...?]
