Perhaps Vlad could lend him a spare IL96?

Doesn't he have a VIP IL-62?

Slightly OT, has a head of state ever flown in another head of states aircraft before?
You know all is right is the world when the only thing people worry about is if the president had sex with a pornstar.

Well, for somewhere around the region, Sukhoi's wingleted SBJ is good enough...less than stellar safety record notwithstanding..... :wink2: .....

Available in a generic Government layout or can be custom ordered with a luxurious interior like this..... :cloudnine: .....

Of course, their Dear Leader could always opt for CRAIC's CR-929..... :eyepopping: .....

Or wait for Ilyushin's new, long-range, twin-engine Il-96 widebody variant.....

Quote:
"United Aircraft says that Ilyushin, which heads its transport division, is 'looking into' a potential twin-engined design 'to continue the life of the Il-96 aircraft'.

The PD-35 would have a baseline thrust of more than 77,000lb, twice that of the PS-90A1, and Aviadvigatel has indicated that the powerplant family could extend to thrusts of 100,000lb.

Ilyushin says the PD-35 will emerge by 2025 and that it is working on a project which would consist of two PD-35s in a configuration which would reduce fuel consumption and maintenance costs.

United Aircraft is already developing a twin-engined long-haul aircraft, designated the CRAIC CR929, in co-operation with Chinese airframer Comac. The company stresses that this project is separate to Ilyushin's future Il-96 considerations."

Yup. More often than you think, actually.

In Cold War times it was "normal" that the USSR would fly around leaders of Banana Republics of Africa.

In recent years, pretty much any time that Chavez or Maduro of Venezuela flew anywhere to Europe, he would use Cubana's IL-96.
Plus there was a few times when Putin or Medvedev would fly with another head of state aboard on the IL-96. Silvio Berlusconi of Italy got to ride it several times.

Recently Emmanuel Macron's Falcon 7X was in a collision in Sénégal, so he rode a presidential A319CJ with the senegalese president. Incidentally this was a former French presidential aircraft, before Sarkozy upgraded to an A330.

They should just ask Airbus to install engines and certificate the glider in #4 above...then send it to completions to replace the damaged Falcon. :airplane: MACPrime! :cheerful:
