Tver is a very interesting base. When we visited in 2009, we were only allowed on the NE ramp to photograph the few planes that had been arranged for us. The more interesting areas were very much off limits. We were just about to leave when the base commander told us we could stay for another ten minutes. We were wondering why when we heard it - an An-22 flew directly overhead then made a long, lazy turn for the runway. That was the most amazing aviation related thing I've ever seen and heard.
Some of the older GE images of the base show a lot more planes than today. Many look as though they were wfu/stored/abandoned and I suspect a lot have (sadly) now been chopped.
