Argentina buys 5 Super Etendards

Mon Dec 04, 2017 10:13 am

Argentina has purchased 5 second-hand Super Etendards, a simulator and spare engines from France.

It's interesting that they want to provide air cover for the G20 meeting with these. Super Etendards were never really meant for that role.

Not quite surprising considering that Argentina was in 1981 the only export customer of the Super-Étendard (14 units).
They were quite satisfied by the performances of the ac during the Falklands/Malvinas war (Exocet hits on the HMS Shieffield and MV Atlantic Conveyor).

Hello,

Do you know how they are going to Argentina?

That would be an interesting flight!! But probably by ship, no?

Probably. Or as cargo, inside an AN124 or the like.

I doubt these crafts are kept in a flyable condition.

They have only been out of service since the summer of 2016, and they won't have been stripping them down for spare parts.

I would expect them to be sent by ship though. Just finding pilots who are current on the type to ferry them over would be an issue.
