Navy acknowledges aircrew drew a penis in the sky over Washington

Fri Nov 17, 2017 3:48 pm

The Navy said, "we find this absolutely unacceptable, of zero training value and we are holding the crew accountable"

In typical avgeek fashion, we need to know what type of aircraft did this horrific act? :)

Looks like wishful thinking on the part of the pilot.

By looking at the image they drew in the sky it sure seams like something Jeremy, Richard and James May would have put these pilots up to as part of one of their stunts :-O. I suppose highly unlikely... but I wouldn't put it past them. Much higher probability if this were over the skies of the UK (but then again.. Amazon HQ isn't that far away from where this happened and Top Gear.. I mean Grand Tour, is currently filming.)

That seaman is nuts...

Didn't someone fly a penis image with a transponder once.

On the penis image with a transponder, you might be referring to this from the BBC, reporting on the Washington State penis contrails;

In August this year, an RAF fighter pilot drew a 35-mile penis on radars monitoring skies over Lincolnshire, England.

The question on everyone’s mine which one was bigger, the RAF or US Navy ?

What irks me is the comment in there where the woman was horrified about explaining the image to her children. Omg they are both going to see dicks. There is always someone that acts like the world is ending over nothing.

In our airforce he would have been forced to do 50 push-ups, 3 laps around the parade ground and pay for the beers afterwards. :)

the Latestest:
The Navy’s “Air Boss,” Vice Adm. Mike Shoemaker, has disciplined two aviators involved in a Nov. 15 incident of phallic skywriting in Washington.

The unnamed male pilot and his backseat aviator from the “Zappers” of Electronic Attack Squadron 130 at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Washington, received administrative punishment on Nov. 22 following a Field Naval Aviator Evaluation Board hearing on North Island before Shoemaker.
[...]
the endorsing authorities urged the Navy to retain them as aviators and place them into a “probationary” status in case they slip up again.

Shoemaker concurred with the recommendations but specified the probationary period would last six months and any transgression on land or in the sky that showed a “similar lapse of judgment” or violated the Navy’s core values would lead to a loss of the insignia.

Looks like they still have a JAG panel to clear and to not be stupid for the next year but they should keep flying.

Are these two aviators still in junior high? If they are going to go through the effort, why not draw something that's actually funny for people older than 15.
