AIRCRAFT Brazil - Air Force Embraer VC-99B (EMB-135BJ) ID NUMBERS REG: 2582 MSN: 145495

There are many pictures of this aircraft out on the net.... Outside only... Though honestly I am very curious to see if it has the 1+1 16pax shuttle config.
What I find interesting is the fairing around the wingroot is so large compared to other ERJ-135s. Why is that?

https://www.airliners.net/search?registr ... lay=detail this search yields a ton of photos showing the large fairing. Perhaps it is because this plane is based off a Legacy 600, instead of just the 135LR?

I can't tell you for sure if it still has its 1+1 seating but it did originally as delivered have 17 seats until it was stored by Flight options in 2007. It also was in a collision in 2004 and was re-registered after repairs were made. The plane was originally built as an EMB-135BJ, which has the marketing designation of Legacy 600.The VC-99B is the Brazilian Air Force designation for an emb-135bj, just like the VC-25A is the designation for the 747-200 known as Air Force 1.The wing to body joint only looks like it has a huge fairing, it actually a conformal fuel tank with the front roughly 5 feet being a fairing housing the a/c packs and ducting, that is why it has that really odd center belly fairing with red beacon as well. Under that is a massive belly skid to minimize fuel tank damage in the event of a belly landing. The Legacy series very much has the fuselage of an emb 135 with a forward fuel tank as well as a tank in the cargo bay allowing an additional 1000 gallons of fuel as well as winglets, strakes and engines off the 145xr among other things.
