Roscosmos

Mon Mar 20, 2017 11:35 pm

I kept the thread title as general as possible. The following bit of news is more specific, though.

It's no secret the Russian space program has been plagued by quality control problems, and if memory serves, Vladimir Evdokimov was hailed as someone getting ahead with fixing some of the issues. It seemed suspicious [though obviously not unthinkable] to me that he would suddenly be found guilty of embezzlement. Alas, after first having simply reported his sudden death in detention, officials are now calling it murder.

Addendum for clarity: charges of embezzlement are a dime a dozen in present day Russia. Judges are routinely bought or ordered to reach a preordained verdict.

I'm guessing he somehow got on the wrong side of Putin or one of his cronies...

However, it seems weird to sabotage the long term success of those programs that bring in the roubles for syphoning off.

Maybe the Quality Control Director was the quality control problem?
With mishaps limited to unmanned missions some sabotage is not out of the question.
