C130H, LC130, WC130

Mon Feb 06, 2017 9:55 pm

Evening, I will be flying on a C130 this summer encampment, and i've been told that we are allowed to bring a camera, and sit freely as to whoever we pick...
I'd like to get a window seat-- and those can be VERY scarce on these 130's from what i've been told:

Where are the windows located on a c130H family aircraft, and how many are there in total so I can get a decent view?

It will most likely be on a LC-130, scheduled as an encampment scheduled activity.
Thanks.

If you google "LC130 inside" and "LC130 windows" for images you'll get an idea of the layout inside the aircraft, where windows are and some window views.

There are bigger ones behind the cockpit and smaller ones under the wings, as far as I can tell.

Pax windows on a C-130 are small, few in number, and usually scratched and dirty.

Ask if they will put pax in a harness and open the ramp and door. There's a view!

Also beware of Vomit Dominos. Loadmasters love to play this game....

20 or 30 cadets in the back of a C-130 on a low level sightseeing flight on a warm summer day. Faint smell of warm hydraulic fluid in a poorly ventilated cabin. Get one cadet puking and then watch them all fall.

Case of barf bags definitely recommended.

I remember the open days at RAF Lyneham back in the eighties - trips up in a C-130 were freely available, and they strung up a cargo net at the back and opened the ramp, nothing like it.
