Re: Updated: Sir Tim Clark: Emirates next batches of A380s will be powered by RR

The 748F is alive and well and Airbus has no equivalent. It's alive, but well...? It's pretty much the definition of a niche product. It's the aeronautical equivalent of the weakest member of the Donner party. Look how long the 747 took to get established. More than one development generation and m...

The A380 has become a fascinating program to me. It's basically a one trick pony, designed for slot constrained hubs in a $100/bbl oil world. When it was being launched, there were few signs that the price of oil would ever drop to the $50's again and horror stories about the difficulties of getting...

No, QF via Australia LAX-SYD/MEL, DFW-SYD are A380’s then an A330/738 to AKL if you want to go that way:

I worry that in the future we may have the opposite of what happened in this accident. Interesting times indeed. I believe Boeing can reduce the price of the 797 if they have enough volume. Every doubling of production cuts costs per unit 13% in this era of automation. To squeeze out either the 787 or 797, Airbus needs volume. Last I looked, the 787 generates $11 million in cash each...

Jetblue obviously sees more value for later flights than some early flights, which is why they are landing so late, so often. Without those, the value of LGB slots is reduced.

I don't see B6 abandoning LGB, but I think they will significantly reduce their presence there in the near future.
