Re: Virgin Atlantic News and Discussion - 2024

I don't hate Tampa. I've never been there and I don't know anyone who has. This city is obviously not in the same league as New York or LA nor is anywhere near as popular otherwise it would justify multiple daily flights from LHR. AMS-TPA will be bookable on Virgin now via LHR so KLM probably won't...

@3awm you said : "A new entrant at LBA would get 100% of the direct market to a 2m metro area, which is more than 50% of the direct market, assuming both airports are equally as attractive to citizens in their own metro area." Funnily enough I work as marketing analyst. Your assumption is ...

Saying Virgin have no competition to Tampa rather ignores the long running BA B777 out of LGW. They do not have the TPA market "all tied up" in any way.

Los Angeles was a success for the one season (S19) they had operated it. Three weekly initially perhaps - this is a connection sorely needed back by MAN It's point to point holidaymakers, and nothing wrong with that at all, but it's a long way there and back so the yield really has to be there to s...

Given the distances many Cathay A350's fly to Europe can we expect them to return to every secondary smaller city they flew to before the Pandemic ? VS used to fly to HKG twice daily, you don't add a second flight if you're not making money on the first. But enough money to justify the aircraft not being deployed elsewhere? Re: British Airways News and Discussion - 2024

There's a world of difference connecting west to LHR to fly west with BA than say flying west to LHR to connect east with BA. That's a lot of backtracking from much of Europe which partly explains why BA isn't strong going east. Their feed going west is much stronger, we're all prisoners of geography.

BA already has nearly 40 B787’s, whereas they only have (an eventual) 18 A350’s.
