^ Of course it is. It would be like retroactively arguing that the A345/A346 were just "to keep customers happy" and didn't really hope for more sales. Ditto things like the 736. They're just basically market flops, although flops that may work very well for their owners.

From MOL's perspective, the regulators prevent a lot of envelope-pushing in favor of chasing extra 999s after the decimal place in aviation safety numbers. Not surprising "regulatory crap" is something he'd say.

Would it be possible to use these on gravel runways? Is it easier to certify for that with the engines on the tail?
