PER is my second home and also the home of (rough estimate) half of the global Fokker 100 fleet, wanting to log a few I booked a return flight to BME for a daytrip with Virgin.

The flight up was cancelled and I was put on a generic 737, but my return Fokker was preserved, still disappointing however.

Is there any rule against 5th freedom flights being used to sustain the slot? I'm thinking Virgin could fly CNS-GUM-HND to maintain the slot.

United used to fly Cairns-Guam on a 737 until 2015, there was demand, albeit not much, although United apparently used to charge a premium for the flight.

From SYD I suspect it's the weekly Link Airways flight to Newcastle. From my other home in PER it would probably be Busselton (BQB) which is served by the occasional VA or QF charter from PER - for regular commercial flights I suspect GET-PER on Qantaslink takes that honour

Iv flown VH-EBQ between Perth & Sydney 3 times, twice in 2015 and once in 2022.

I've also flown EBB, EBC, EBF, EBG, EBP, EBR & VH-XZP twice on the SYD-PER route each.

We've seen DRW act as a makeshift transit hub in the recent months of the pandemic. I'm thinking DRW could surely be utilised in the future to connect cities on the East Coast (CNS/TSV/SYD/CBR/MEL) with secondary ports in SE Asia, like KUL/HKT/DAC/SUB, with the new aircraft

I recall it only being a few months ago it was looking increasingly likely Qantas would keep their 747s for longer than announced.

I'll forever be grateful for the short time they ran on SYD/PER sectors in mid-late 2018, which gave me an opportunity to log two before today.

The Shorts 360 (or the Xbox 360 as me and a friend used to call it) looks very strange, though I can't outright hate it.

I have seen many Qantas posters from the 60s & 70s showing some sort of service to Belgrade, that's about as much as I know regarding that.

Don't most commercial aircraft already pollute less per passenger then most cars?

Also stating the obvious here, but you can't run trains over the ocean and there aren't a whole lot of battery powered boats that can get you from Perth to New York etc. in any reasonable time frame.
