I think MEL-SFO was a matter of time. But it should’ve been UA doing this first in my opinion. Nothing against QF but they aren’t exactly known for trying “new” routes compared to UA.

Most likely the 787 but could be the A380 considering that both LAX-SYD and DFW-SYD have A380 service. SFO can definitely support it, whether they do it is another question.

Lopano isn't typically one to fluff up a short haul route as major so I think it's something big. In order of likelihood: 1. TPA-DUB w/ Aer Lingus 2. TPA-MAN w/ Thomas Cook 3. TPA-CDG w/ Norwegian On a completely unrelated note, I would definitely not be surprised to see TK here in the next 5 years....

I want to say FRA but I'm leaning towards CDG as LH already does DEN while CDG is a hole not filled by AF, only DY and thus CDG would benefit DEN based UA FF and local companies that prefer UA over DY. FRA would be redundant as it is metal neutral for UA/Star unless it needs the extra capacity.

The downside of this is the terrible wait times at CBP with so many large aircraft arriving so close together. This sounds like an advertisement for TWA, Europe heavy and nothing to Asia. IF PHL can support all those Atlantic flights then Tokyo needs to start in 30 days( ASAP). ORD, whatever its faults is a two ocean hub and back around 1990 was AA biggest hub to Europe long before they flew to London Heath...
