KL 747-400: 408 seats KL 777-300ER: 408 seats Some very minor variations between the classes, but you get it. All thanks to B’s brillant move to introduce 10 abreast on the T7. A move they repeated later on with the 78, from 8 to 9 abreast. No fun for the customer of course but it does wonders conce...Jump to post
The 788 is today's incarnation of the 762. It's CASM are just too high for an airline like KL with relatively few high yielding seats. I know better, but would love to see the 321LR and/or 330NEO for KL's medium-(not-so)-longhaul fleet for flights somewhere between 5 to 9 hours. Not gonna happen..Jump to post

Just a friendly reminder of the definition of an upset condition: -Pitch attitude greater than 25°, nose up. - Pitch attitude greater than 10°, nose down. -Bank angle greater than 45°. -Within the above parameters, but flying at airspeeds inappropriate for the conditions. So 49 degrees isn’t just a ...Jump to post

Three words: average stage length. Having said that, when it comes to the service provided on board, it’s the opposite. Last month all I got on a 1-hour trip in domestic F in the US was a bag of peanuts and a drink, while a few weeks before I was served a full breakfast in Euro-Biz on a 45 minute fl...Jump to post

I always avoid KLM at any price, the food is just so untasty, almost junk food. And the seat pitch, just a nightmare. All true. But at least the cabin crew do completely ignore you if your do not happen to speak the local language, they fly on time and very rarely go on strike. Plus they are 100% f...Jump to post

More 332s for KL seem highly unlikely to me, considering the slot cap at AMS and the lack of love KL seems to have for AB products sadly. If anything, KL needs bigger widebodies, not smaller. Btw, I haven’t heard about a possible frame shortage. The 744 phaseout and subsequent arrival of the 787s ha...Jump to post
I have no problem at all with 2-2-2, perfect for couples and I see quite a few of those on board. At least no middle seat and a 100% full flat J-class longhaul fleet. Something that cannot be said about AF.
But we’re drifting here.
Anyhow, 3-3-3 in eco is better than 3-4-3..
And the plot thickens. A KLM spokesperson has just confirmed to Dutch aviation website UpintheSky that the A350 is still scheduled to join the fleet in 2021: Link (in Dutch, sorry): https://www.upinthesky.nl/2018/12/20/klm-ontvangt-vier-boeing-787-10s-in-2019/ The same article confirms that 4x787-10...Jump to post

So, what’s next for Skylease? With N908AR now written off, they are down to just a single 744F (904AR) and a couple of MD’s. Is there a chance that N903AR could be reactivated? This 744ERF has not flown since march 2017 and appears stored in a Centurion/Skylease hangar on 36th St. In MIA. Any though...Jump to post
The fact that CTG sits at sea level certainly helps. And on top of that it’s also 350NM north of BOG.Jump to post
tkoenig95 wrote:With KLM discontinuing the 74M out of many cargo-heavy markets such as ORD, IAH and SFO what are they doing to recoup the lose of the cargo capacity?
To maximize cargo (flowers) and pax uplift. And AMS of course is just a little further away than e.g. CDG.Jump to post
Do you really think the avarage Dutch flight attendant cares anything about the 80-year war?? Heck, even my parents have long forgiven the Germans.
Can’t handle the truth apparently.

Well, if there are no more combi’s or full pax 747’s headed for a D-check/paintjob I don’t see this happening. Unless... There happen to be two more -400s on the Dutch register that are still due for one. It’s only that the passenger windows are missing and they happen to have a short upper deck. ;)...Jump to post
KLM should select PH-BFY for this special paint scheme for two reasons: - Currently PH-BFY is to be the very last KLM B747 to leave the fleet in June 2021. - PH-BFY is a full pax aircraft and all early B747-206 that actually carried this 1971 KLM livery were full passenger aircraft. But are any of ...Jump to post
Amazed by the fact that KL and HV don't swap their 73NG's for the MAX asap, which would result in a much needed reduced noise footprint around the Dutch airports. I remember some head honcho from LH stating that the NEO has a footprint 50% less than the CEO. Let's get on with it!Jump to post
Lastly, KL has not been doing a good job with their cargo operations under the previous CEO. They lost a lot of business to the ME3, and also to other cargo operators (which they really shouldn't have, they really did screw up). This. And marketshare has been lost for good. AFKL has lost interest i...Jump to post
Sky Lease have only got 4 active frames now. 2x B744s N904AR N908AR and 2x MD11s N986AR N987AR. Their other 747s (N903AR) and MD11s are all long since dead now and probably parts donors. I wouldn’t call 0.9 slightly over 0.2. He was drunk by most standards (assuming the article is correct). Assuming he was on a round trip, what condition was he in when departing AMS???
