A question could a QF 789 fly PER-IST without a significant payload hit in either direction? Timing a flight that connects in PER to SYD,MEL and BNE..Such a flight 3x or 4x weekly would allow QF to compete with TK.

I pointed out that I was neither a DL fan boy or an expert on their costs. I just said they should have the right to move this or any other HND slot to where ever they think makes the most feasable financial sense for them. Also I think our debate proves this thread should be locked by moderators

DL is pricing this route to make a return on investment. Not to put butts in their seats. I have no idea of the cost per hr for DL to operate this flight and all other expenses. However they do need to make a positive return for investors.

For Europe I would like to see some airline try BOS-MXP even it's 3x or 4x summer seasonal. This route might be viable with the A321XLR. I would also like to see LO try WAW-BOS. Here again it might not be able to sustain year round service but a 3x or 4x service seasonal might work
