Re: Delta 777 New Interior

The noise cancelling headphones, slippers and amenity kit offered in PS as documented in Sam Chui's video add an extra touch to the premium experience. The 2-4-2 layout in PS is on par with the competition (e.g. Lufthansa Premium Economy aboard the Boeing 747), but the 3-3-3 layout in Economy reall...

Re: United Fleet Upgrade Status - 2018

UA has a choice to make to either continue floating the 21 2 class units with the 7 Polaris units or split them into 2 subfleets. I'd expect a subfleet of Polaris units at or before all 3 class units are completed to be rotated on some premium heavy routes - that would be 14 Polaris units (40% of t...

Port Control did commission a freight study a few years ago (under Ricky Smith)--I'm trying to find it as I thought i had a copy, but can't seem to find it. It was done by a consultant and I cannot remember which one. It would be an interesting read for sure. While maybe not a dedicated cargo lane,...

Re: What's Going In CLE - 2018

^In the US, max weight load is 80,000 lbs (without overweight exemptions). If a tractor and trailer empty is 34,000 lbs, the max load is if full is 46,000 pounds, or 23 tons. As you noted, some cargo may be more bulky than just heavy---so 100 tons a day is 4-5-6 trucks per day. That's certainly eno...

Disagree. This "779 is too big" argument is very tiring one, considering that the 779 isn't that much bigger compared to the 77W. It's a perfect 77W replacement, especially if said 77Ws are 10-across Y, which AA has. It's a nice fit for AA, and it seems like it will go that way. The 779 h...

What I find interesting about the AA order is the paradigm that AA is changing on the 788. Many on a.net scratched their heads when AA put their 788's at ORD and used them TATL saying it can't be a good CASM, etc. as it's not a 763 replacement.
