Re: United Fleet/Network Thread - 2019

What are your thoughts on the roll out plans for the the new HiJ 767's coming out of mod soon in HKG? Do you think they will go into revenue service on PS routes until they have enough a/c configured to route on the final TATL routes? Two will be completed in Q2 it seems.

Re: Will UA order more 77W’s ?

The difference in fuel burn in operating the A350-1000 and the 777-300ER will exceed the difference between the A340-600 and the 777-300ER. So the decision to buy the 777-300ER instead the A350-1000 compares badly with buying the A340-600 instead of the 777-300ER. What if the 77W was half the price...

It's only 4 units which basically equals two TPAC routes. EWR PVG if 2nd flight doesn't happen + 1 more.

Re: UA orders 4 More 777-300ERs - What Routes?

With 350 seats and 60 Polaris, it would have to be a route that demands that volume (equivalent to 1.3 flights per day of normal 789 a/c). So, small uptick for certain markets (ex-EWR or SFO> TPAC mentioned), trunk (FRA) or surprises (TLV or new route). It's almost guaranteed to be from EWR/SFO no?

Adding four more 77W's is a big deal. The economics must be very good (performance + purchase price) to elect these vs. more 787's and/or wait until the A359's. Either way, UA has 10 widebody aircraft coming online in 2019 + what looks to be like that many again in 2020 with 787's. It should make fo...
