Passenger baggage handling is truly a race against the clock and it’s damned if you do, damned if you don’t situation. Why do people always defend airline employees with this "race against the clock" nonsense? Take a look at this video of a Hawaiian Airlines bag smasher: https://www.youtu...Jump to post
The biggest issue with bag damage .is passengers are packing their bags way too heavy to avoid paying for another bag. I work in the bins in the Delta Fleet everyday 9 put of 10 bag damage are due to over weight bags. Not puting them down the jet way slide you don't want your bags destroyed start p...Jump to post
If I was a wealthier man traveling from NYC-LA I would book the qantas flight one way and another carrier back, ditching my connection to Australia and simply walking out of the airport after the JFK-LAX flight. What's to stop me from doing that if I choose? There’s nothing to stop you. But your ch...Jump to post

Seems like the difference is that SY at least refunded passengers' tickets and then told them to go find and pay for another flight on their own. According to the passengers, they're neither getting them to their destination nor are they refunding their tickets. SY refunded tickets and passengers c...Jump to post
If you were on national TV and threatened to kill and gut someone if they didn't obey your commands, and you used something equivalent to the N word, would your employer let you stick around? Mine would shove me out the door faster than a 757 takes off. I'd take it with a grain of salt; it's a &quo...Jump to post
You can get onto a crowded NYC subway, or almost any AMTRAC train without passing ANY security.... yet I have not heard of a train bombing.... Never heard of a train bombing? Really??? By now my favorite is a DL flight from Jfk on a 330-200. It's late but it's not so bad with my connection from MXP. Thank you for your opinion! Do you already have a MXP to JFK flight? If so your connection won’t be a connection as we typically think of one, it will be two individual flights back t...Jump to post
Not an expert either, but i have heard AMS is preferred operationally as CDG has a convoluted bag sorting process (much more misconnects/losses than ams) along with AF labor strikes Not sure if the data bears this out but I agree. The strikes in France, not just by AF but also airport ground worker...Jump to post

And yet, it wears the current livery, which means it isn't a retro jet in the context intended by the OP. Some airlines define "retro" as taking a new plane and painting it as if it was 30+ years old. Other airlines define "retro" as taking a 30+ year old plane and painting it a...Jump to post
Yes, I am aware of the reason for this. In the U.S., they seem to be encouraging the closing of the shades at all times, especially on DL. This practice seems to have only started in the past year where prior to this, announcements were ALWAYS made for shades to be raised for landing and take off. ...Jump to post
Why drive to Whistler, BC, one of the best skiing spots in the world, when you can fly to Boise? Sounds reasonable. Whistler looked like an iconic skiing spot in the Vancouver Winter Olympics. Were the Winter Olympics ever held in Boise? Anyone? Anyone? LOL. It's pretty clear any ski traffic betwee...Jump to post
There is plenty of blame to go around, but the sob story from the passenger is unnecessary and overly dramatic. That seems to be a recurring theme with these type of stories. Airlines might be better off just increasing their list of banned items to include cellos and other musical instruments and ...Jump to post

I can't imagine there is enough tourist traffic between YVR and BOI to justify a flight. Pretty sure every airline agrees with this since nobody flies the route. And what little traffic there is, it is not going YVR-BOI. It's going the opposite way with people visiting Vancouver and boarding cruise ...Jump to post
What's in BOI for us Canadians to justify a flight? Boise is a quite amazing place. Amazing for the adventurer and there's quite a few of your compatriots within the city. Plus BC borders the state anyway, and it can avoid a stop in SEA or somewhere Rephrased: What's available for Canadians in Bois...Jump to post

Most cars in the USA are automatic and many models are net even offered in manual anymore. Suppose you buy a shovel and use it for twenty years. Then the handle breaks so you replace it and use it for another twenty years. Then the blade breaks so you replace it and use it for another twenty years. Have you really used the same shovel for sixty years? Same question for the airplane. As yo...Jump to post
Somebody is subsidizing these flights....$1,000 round trip sounds way low to me. Low fares to/from China are the norm. I don't know about this particular flight but the Chinese government is heavily subsidizing Chinese carriers (to the tune of $1,300,000,000 USD in 2016) to start new international ...Jump to post
Ugh, the dreaded CR2. I’ve been flying them a lot lately on Skywest out of SWF for the connection in Detroit. They are invariably late, almost always due to mechanical issues (per the flight crews). I’ve already missed a few connections because of it — the lesson learned is to take the morning flig...Jump to post
There's a difference between calling one passenger something while they're taping something on their personal phone (not saying that agent didn't deserve to be fired), and repeatedly using derogatory language and stating one's lack of concern for their customers while being filmed for a national TV...Jump to post
Considering Delta FA's aren't unionized, it would be in their best interest to cut ties with her. Delta did not cut ties with a baggage agent in PDX who refused to help a customer then called him a “f$&#ing a$@hole”, recorded on video, while in uniform and on duty. If that’s not a fireable offe...Jump to post
If you were on a flight and your sister was allergic to peanuts and the slightest HINT of a peanut sent her into anaphylactic shock, you would also be a little upset that the flight attendant didn't take the allergen seriously. Excellent news! We've been waiting for B6 for years, and with SY evidently turning into a ULCC this seems like a good time to add one of the "premium" LCCs to the route. This is technically hub-to-hub for DL, and DL will presumably have a fit but I'm not sure where or how. Maybe they'll r...Jump to post
I don’t see anything wrong with such policy. Unless you need to transport work related material, there is absolutely no need to check in a bag for a 2 night trip. As irelayer pointed out, not many people would agree with you. Some people may need to take extra clothes or shoes for business and/or s...Jump to post
I don’t want to go too far off your topic, but Skywest’s reliability is pretty suspect, in my experience. At SWF, we’re very limited in options. And EWR is quite a hike. So my question is — is American Eagle/Air Wisconsin a better carrier than Skywest? Performance of all carriers’ regional airlines...Jump to post
I still wouldn't underestimate that group. It is a very business-oriented city and there's no shortage of Medallion members in the Twin Cities. All the DL fan boys here said FI would drop this route as soon as DL added it, because nobody would choose FI over DL. It looks like FI is planning to stay in MSP, despite competition from DL. No need. The fascinating thing about that guy is how obsessed he is with Jetblue. I can see United and American upsetting the Delta yes-girls, but Jetblue?
