Can anyone explain to me why a turbofan engine has a minimum cool down time and what components are at risk if the proper procedure is not followed? I am a curious how this affects how quickly an aircraft can be turned for it’s next flight. Thx The main reason for the cool down is to stabilize the ...

In my mind, this is the real alarm bell here. It's clear how far they were off from the localizer, and it's clear that there was an imminent situation. And yet, they apparently lacked the situational awareness to understand why their landing clearance was canceled. The rest will all come out with t...

Re: Windshear on A343 take off scare at Zurich

I’m thinking more likely incorrect loadsheet cg leading to incorrect stab trim, or the crew setting the incorrect stab trim. If the stab trim was set for too much pitch up, on rotation it just takes a small input to start the rotation, and you need to set the correct attitude. The automatic trim wil...

Both fuselages are roughly circular and the widest point of both the 777 and A350 is near the armrests. There’s no getting around that a 10 abreast A350 will be a miserable experience. The A350 fuselage is not circular, nor does the floor intersect the fuselage half way. https://runwaygirlnetwork.c...

Re: Emirates A350 9 or 10 abreast in economy?

The A350 NPS' cabin width is 6 inches narrower than the legacy 777, and 10 inches narrower than the 777X. That suggests 10-abreast on an A350 NPS would have seats and aisles 1/2 inch narrower than the legacy 777 (assuming the same width armrests). According to the 777 airport planning guide, on the...

If an aircraft intrudes on a stand next to it, you cannot park another aircraft in that stand. Most turbine engines measure thrust as the pressure differential between the inlet and exit. You see commonly what is referred to as a P2T2 probe in the inlet of most jet engines.
