^ When D was built, CO guaranteed that portion of the airport's bonded debt, which was efficient since the airport could get a better interest rate than CO could. This may still be the case with UA, although there have been a couple of re-negotiations along the way.Jump to post

Some nice surprises from the AA schedulers. Instead of reducing CLT by one flight in September, they are increasing the schedule by one A319. PHL will lose one E145. DFW goes to 3 738s, with only 2 MD80s left. Net of all this is a seat *increase* for the fall season.Jump to post
The last time I was over in D, it was pretty cramped. Even before the interior mods, when D was more open, it was a hoppin’ place handling RJ’s. I really don’t think it would make a good terminal for international aircraft (or even mainline, for that matter) and don’t really understand the infatuat...Jump to post

So far no sign of the next stage of Ultimate flying OneJet routes – just BDL-PIT and IND-PIT which started this week. ^Thanks your research. The pace of progress has always been painfully slow with both airlines; but, pre-merger, a big mistake could certainly have killed Ultimate and possibly OneJe...Jump to post
^In the US, max weight load is 80,000 lbs (without overweight exemptions). If a tractor and trailer empty is 34,000 lbs, the max load is if full is 46,000 pounds, or 23 tons. As you noted, some cargo may be more bulky than just heavy---so 100 tons a day is 4-5-6 trucks per day. That's certainly eno...Jump to post
Thanks. So, how many trucks total are shipping out of Cleveland each night, heading to ORD/DTW/NYC/Elsewhere? Someone had said two trucks/day to EWR---but what is the total market out of CLE each night? How many trucks? My recollection is that 100 tons a day is trucked to other airports, but I can'...Jump to post

Interesting article from OAG about the the fastest growing airports. CVG is the fastest growing medium hub (up 18%), while CLE is #5 (up 11%). On the air cargo front, yes a few trucks a day go to EWR. As well to ORD. Both gateways generally add two days to air cargo transit times due to trucking and scanning prior to loading. Many wise shippers have found Rickenbacker to be a good alternative. You can get the cargo there and be on a plane...Jump to post
Do snowbirds really head to JAX in any significant numbers? I never think of Jacksonville/St. Augustine when I'm thinking warm weather get-a-way. Generally Jacksonville-Daytona gets reliably warm by the end of Feb; so, yes, snowbirds can go later in the season. Sanford is probably a better choice t...Jump to post
I don't see why. If the business plan works, great. If not, the airline closes. There are no shareholders to appease, and there won't be a big void in the air transportation system if things go bad. I'm not sure if the switch from 8 to 30-seat airplanes is a sign of things going great, or a change ...Jump to post

One nice thing about the fuel price rise, from OneJet's point of view, it's probably making E135s cheaper again. Ultimate's model allowed for fuel inefficiencies to be made up by cheap ownership costs and high fares; I'm guessing that will carry over.Jump to post
I would imagine the rest of the flights will transfer over to P1 airline codes, but we will have to see. They said announcements would be coming in late May ... OneJet has always been very good at announcements, less good at carrying out what they announce. This is odd. The BKL-LUK flights don't be...Jump to post
Ultimate will be operating some of OneJet's aircraft come June 4, not sure on the exact numbers of planes though. UE just hired three new sets of crew with more to come.
