That's why I qualified my post saying physically it can work and left out the economically part. ;) Just noting UA's Patrick Quayle ruled out DEN-AKL while in Auckland last March specifically due to the altitude reason - not for lack of demand or economic potential. I find it amazing that DL chooses to fly to MAF and MFE which are small niche markets and not to DFW with a population of 6 million. I would think Delta could find other creative ways to burn money. Re: Should Flight Bound for the US be Allowed to Overfly Russia?

My honest feeling after chewing on this a bit is that foreign carriers who do choose to fly to the US should be subject to the same regulations we put on our carriers. We do this with safety issues. If we deem a carrier is not adhering to the standards we put in place for our own carriers, we preven...

CA, EY, and HU are currently allowed to use Russian Airspace for their flights to the US (I think-not 100% here), but they do not use it. I’d say they should have done this when the U.S. carriers were banned BUT since they didn’t it’s too late now. This is a topic that has been talked about in pieces in several threads. MIA-EZE is overwhelmingly EZE point of sale, its MIA's largest international O&D market at a whopping over 700 PDEW, and the Argentina POS will be easier to sell AR to. JFK-EZE isnt even 1/3 the size of MIA-EZE and still has 3 daily flights. Seems better to add more capacity to MIA.
