Surprised to see that the only flight to Central or South America on any airline from any US city north of LAX is just CM from SFO-PTY. SEA, PDX and SJC don't have a single flight to Central America or South America, and SFO just has that one flight to PTY and nothing to South America. UA don't fly...

Based on O&D traffic, DTW is the biggest hole in the ME3 network in the US. Its the only market in the US that has no ME3 that could actually fill the plane.

I can tell you exactly why: Open Skies and Bermuda II. At the end, BA couldnt fly from LHR to IAH directly. As a result, they used the poorly preforming DTW-LHR to piggy back passengers to/from IAH. Thoughts on whether DL would actually prefer a slot for JFK-HND over SEA/ATL/DTW? I keep thinking that DL could probably talk DOT into moving the MSP slot to DTW in the discussions of the next set of HND allocations, and still have the traffic to make a 6w DTW-NRT service work alongside HND. Guesse...

Shocking not...it shows you the market power that LH/UA/AC have on their ATI JV to Germany. That is one reason I oppose these things. They are anti competitive. What it tells me that AA is only flying to Germany from DFW and CLT is that UA's northern tier hubs EWR, IAD, ORD are so strong to Germany...
