Rejection: Overexposed

I just had this shot rejected for over exposed. I see where the question of overexposure may be, where the low-angle morning sun is hitting the nose, but I don't agree that it is overexposed. I double checked the histogram to make sure there was no clipping, and it did not reflect any overexposure. ...

Re: Pre-Screening: IL-76

The sharpening applied was USM 50% at 1.0. That’s pretty much the standard I use. Then I’ll use the sharpening tool at 35% to spot-treat softer areas, and the eraser to fix any jaggies.

Re: Pre-Screening: IL-76

Is there any other correction to adjust softness besides adding more sharpening?

Pre-Screening: IL-76

Good afternoon, Could you all please provide feedback on this image. I posted in the A.net photography forum asking for advice on how to reduce halos. This is the photo I was referring to in that post. Your observations, as well as advice on how to correct any flaws would be greatly appreciated! Tha...

Re: Those Pesky Halos

I shoot Canon so I do not have the issue of D-Lighting. The shot was on a clear sunny day, and it looks like a white glow reflecting off the upper fuselage.

Those Pesky Halos

I have a shot of a Volga IL76 landing in Houston, but it was a clear sunny day and there is an obvious halo around the upper side of the white fuselage. I know how to identify the halos, but I wanted to ask forum users how they remove them. What process do you all use to remove halos? A step-by-step...

Post-Screening F-18

Good evening, Today I had this photo rejected after HQ1 for high in frame, low contrast, overexposed, and soft. I just wanted to post the image here for some feedback and recommendations on how to correct the image. Thank you all for your replies. https://imgproc.airliners.net/photos/airliners/9/0/4...

I am having some trouble with leveling this image. No matter what rotation adjustments I make, i just cant get it to look right. The current rotation is -0.30 in Lightroom. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! http://imgproc.airliners.net/photos/airliners/1/4/7/4997741.jpg?v=v415bb2b8c4f

Suggestion for Sharpening: Air Canada

This photo was rejected for being soft. After an appeal, it was rejected for soft again, but with the screener comment that it needed selective sharpening. I wanted to get your feedback on what parts of the image you think needs to be sharpened further. Thank you for your help! http://imgproc.airlin...

If so, remove it.

I wasn't using a UV filter.

Front glass looks clean. Would a smaller aperture, such as f/11 or smaller, make a difference?

Lens flare killing night shots

Hello, everyone. I have been fighting what feels like a losing battle recently with my night shots. My foe has been lens flare! Do any of you have tips on how to reduce this issue? The other night I was taking some shots of C-17s parked on the ramp at SAT, but I kept getting small "orbs" o...

Thank you for the info. I was using a tripod, but I guess I was just to close to the subject with too large an aperture.

Depth of Field Question

I recently had a shot rejected (everyone relax, this isn't a feedback post), and I was wanting to ask a question of depth of field. The shot is a wide-angle taken from the nose of BBJ. It was a 15-second exposure at f/6.3 and ISO 100. The nose was sharp, as it was my focal point. However, the engine...

Screener Process

Hello everyone. Just curious what the feedback would be on a screen-shot video showing the screening process. Basically, I'd like to see what it is they are looking for and how they go about screening the many photos that are uploaded to A.net. NOTE: I think the screeners do a fine job! Out of all t...

Re: Back-Button Focus

Thank you all for input. Just so I understand correctly, there is no difference between keeping the shutter-release depressed halfway and holding the back-button focus (when it comes to tracking an aircraft moving, say, left to right)?

Back-Button Focus

While I was out yesterday I thought I'd give the back-button focus method a try on my 70D. Now, I'm not sure if it's all in my head, but I feel like my "keeper" rate was a lot higher than normal. Maybe I was just "on"... Anyhoo, I was wondering if any of you have ever tried, or r...

Post Screening: 1 Dark, 1 Heat Haze

Hello everyone, This is the first time that I have posted on this forum. I took up aviation photography about a year and a half ago and I am hooked! I currently have 7 photos in the database, and while that is a small number compared to many folks on this site, I am really happy about that! I wanted...
