Reading these threads each week, it seems to me that AA has been cutting 1 frequency out of many routes from CLT/PHL/PHX for some time now. Obviously, these are old US cities. My question is, are they putting the aircraft that would normally fly these frequencies onto different routes, or are they ...Jump to post
Even though seasonal, WN is slowly trimming long-hauls from LAS to less than hub cities (BDL, RDU, PHL, DTW). Seasonal cuts of this nature have in the past turned into seasonal Saturday only and then into gone. Cutting back on these must increase connecting demand and thus yield on BWI-LAS and MDW-...Jump to post
Ugh! Not a good start at all... Would it have been possible to do DFW-AMS on a 332? Possible...Yes. But the 332 has more seats than the 763. And they would have needed to figure out a way to route the aircraft through PHL/CLT. Whether than meant upgrading PHL-AMS to a 332 or trying to fit in a CLT/...Jump to post

I've sort of been expecting a PHL-LAS flight, despite the fact that NK is already on it. While I admit my internal bias towards wanting new service at PHL - loads for LAS are extremely healthy across AA, WN, and even NK. I don't know about yields. But it makes me optimistic that this may be a route...Jump to post
Can we assume that the 333's will stick around a bit longer now that the 350's and 789's are deferred? I don't think the retirements of the A333s are reliant upon the A350-900 being on property. Even if they were, the fleet count is just so small, another type can cover for it. Plus, they probably ...Jump to post
And it's worth noting that the slots AA/BA had to give up at LHR to increase competition at PHL only have to be used specifically on LHR-PHL for a set number of years, 5 maybe? So it will not be too surprising if DL moves it's "barely hanging on" 4-5x weekly 752 LHR-PHL somewhere else that...Jump to post

Has UA (CO) increased as much over time. I belive UA is up to 6x EWR-LHR now.
I think this means the A380 for Boston. From a cut in service you extrapolate to it must mean they are bringing the A380? I believe there is a difference between wanting something and thinking something might actually happen. (Not saying it won't, but this definitely doesn't make it look very likel...Jump to post
It's also worth noting that September is a notoriously slow travel month. US airlines probably cut their transatlantic schedules by 25+% in Sept/Oct.Jump to post
It's worth noting that these changes are effective 25Mar18...so 11 months away.Jump to post
Unfortunately, this will probably mean further reductions in PHL, Air Wisconsin's largest base and the airport that has seen the biggest reduction in departures due to 50 seaters leaving the fleet. Has AA said what will be replacing these CRJs? Maybe not. American is converting the Piedmont operati...Jump to post
My head can't wrap around the economics of it all on a Friday, but can't the unintended consequence simply be that DL overbooks flights by more seats. With 2,000-10,000 worth of vouchers to hand out, they can easily overbook some flights by 10 seats and have enough vouchers for VDB's. Or am I readin...Jump to post
DFW-OGG also gets upgauged to a 772. Do share? Daily? which dates? That is also mighty impressive. The 2-class 77Es are perfect for HNL/OGG in my uninformed opinion. Daily from July 5th. Unsure of the end date at the moment but it appears it may run through at least the middle of August. It looks l...Jump to post

Even seems like AA is waiting to shift the LAA 752's over to PHL until all of the conversions are complete. PHL-SNN/LIS/GLA are all slated for the LUS 752's throughout the summer. Without a PHL-JFK flight I guess it challenging to rotate the LAA 752's on JFK-Europe destinations and then PHL-differe...Jump to post
They are going to have a lot of extra 77E capacity lying around with all these 789s coming aboard. I wonder where they will be redeployed. after FOI, I expect them to do PHL/CLT-Europe, replacing the 333s. very good move to up NRT to the 789. AA PHL-IAH 3>2. All I can think of is that when oil tanked business/oil traffic between these two cities plummeted. Not all that surprising with the DH8 retirements that routes like PHL-ABE/BWI/IPT/SWF see decreases. Though a little surprising that routes like PHL-ROC/ORF/CHS/BGR are increased.Jump to post
QR doesn't obviously do MIA and PHL for connections. Both cities have significant local markets to the Middle East and Indian subcontinent. The PHL flight leaves at 9am. Very little connects to it. Both flights, without a doubt, rely largely on traffic originating/terminating in Miami and Philadelp...Jump to post
I too thought B6 would be the most likely to add PHL-SJU. Those times are definitely off peak. That might work from JFK/EWR or Florida but it might be tough from PHL, especially trying to fill up a 321. FWIW, in the peak spring break season. There are a decent number of flights arriving from the Eas...Jump to post
AA at PHL is littered with these "inappropriate" use of 50 seaters
PHL-IND (~510 mi)
PHL-MKE (~600 mi)
PHL-STL (~700 mi)
PHL-DTW (~400 mi)
PHL-CVG (~440 mi)
Not to say these routes are solely 50 seaters, but they are in there.
But I'm curious why F9 hasn't opened at EWR, while B6 and WN have added flights, and NK and G4 have started or soon will be starting service. It just seems that DEN-PHL at 2x won't last long, but an DEN-EWR introduction seems plausible. Not that it's a reason to shy away, but DEN-EWR already has ~1...Jump to post
A few other F9 PHL notes.
CLT and RDU will go daily.
MIA and MSY are daily for most of March and April.
TPA is daily, can't remember if it had been previously.
So far PHL will have 91 weekly F9 flights in S17 for an average of 13 flts/day
15 minutes each way becomes 30 when you fly back the directly opposite direction. 1/2 hour is significant. Flying a long international route, 30 min extra isn't terrible in my opinion, but everyone is different. Regardless, I wouldn't be surprised if there are more people starting to fly AA/B6 PHL-...Jump to post
