Thanks for the heads up. Was there a need to expand the ramp? I thought I've seen 2-3 747's parked at one time or even 3-4 MD11's parked at one time. I noticed UPS added a 2nd ONT-PHL flight landing around 8am. I don't believe the expansion was done for capacity reasons. SDF has taken much of the w...Jump to post
At PHL UPS will begin receiving 747s during night and day starting next week. I work the day ramp (4am-9am). Also, rumor is work is being done to have a 747, possibly one of the new 748Fs, fly from Philly to Asia via ANC as a regular flight next year. The ramp has been expanded to the north to acco...Jump to post

IMO, this doom and gloom about ORD is more about OW. OW has an incredibly small breadth across Europe. OW has LHR and to a much lesser extent MAD as main connecting points. *A has MUC, FRA, ZRH, BRU, etc.. Subsequently UA maintains a larger compliment of routes to these hubs through the winter. How ...Jump to post
Is this a foretelling of Amazon HQ2 coming to the PIT region? My guess is the area could use that sort of economic shot in the arm... It could be another clue. How can Chicago dwindle to almost no winter flights to Europe all of a sudden, is all the connecting traffic really getting redirected through Philadelphia ? I would have thought it was going to ne PHL KEF, DFW seems odd Eh, I am curious how FI did on PHL-KEF this past summer. Thus far for S18 they plan the same frequency but with a 738max instead of a 752. I think this could be more about flooding the market to knock at least one of the two FI, WW off ...Jump to post
If I had a guess, I would say it probably has something to do with a combination of the draw-down of Air Wisconsin CRJ flying and Piedmont Dash-8 flying causing shifts throughout the system. Not used to Central America. Typical routes are CLT/PHL-SJU, SXM, CUN, MCO, MIA. That will likely change a bit this winter with SJU and I believe SXM suffering from the Hurricane. There is PHL-SFO for most of W18 and CLT-SFO for a few weeks during the holidays. The 332's are also going through the P...Jump to post

What's up with the DL PDX/PHL LHR swap. Surely DL will not keep PHL-LHR any longer than they need do.
I see short term LAX domestic build up centered around following: 1) Western US (likely UAX) feeder routes for Intl/Hawaii services which also serves to help relieve SFO 2) Midcon/Transcon markets that already generate good volume of LAX destined connex over hubs 3) Reenter some local top O&D m...Jump to post

Wow, I was wondering if this might happen given the F9 PHL announcement last week! This is great news for all those small cities! These are some VERY good schedules! A third runway is not really an option. You have I-95 on one side, the Delaware River on (basically) two sides, and quite a bit of industry all around. Coming off the merger, I don't really think AA is going to want to sink much more money into PHL right now. Now that there are fewer flights post U...Jump to post
I also just remembered the F9 announced PHL-MSN/OMA last Tuesday and already operates SAT-PHL seasonally. They are (or they were) working on a third runway IIRC....Moving all the cargo facilities to the northside of the property and a third runway was to go in the place. That plan is on hold. AA has downsized PHL. While there has been some gauge changes, most notably with DH8's > 145's, PHL currently hovers between 360-400 flights. It used to hover between 440-480. I hear that American Airlines plans to retire their Airbus A330-300 fleet by the end of the decade, around 2019. AA was already in with MEM/PHL with at least daily service. I was kinda shocked on that one, there's other fruit on the MEM tree that seems sweeter. I'm surprised it's taken this long to get a PHL-MSN flight and surprised it wasn't AA who offered it. Now I wonder if AA will upgrade PHL-CDG Good question. With the AA already cutting BOS and 1x daily JFK rotations to CDG in S18, they still kept the A332 on the route. Question: If DL is exiting PHL-CDG and there's nothing from AF about returning to PHL, might this be a prime candidate for JOON?
