Re: Pre-screen Various Images

F-16C : Agree with Tim's point on soft. The whole aircraft looks very soft especially the areas beside cockpit cover. Hard to get a pass IMO. F18C : Crop should be fine. Sharpness looks marginal but passable for me. If it still gets Soft this time, I would highly recommend you to apply a small size...

Re: Pre-screen Various Images

Not a screener (but who knows, maybe one day... :scratchchin: ) F16: Soft around the tail and nose, however, given the conditions (long lens, likely a large crop) it could go either way. F18: Bit of a tight crop for me, also a touch OS, otherwise ok Thunderbird T38: Unlevel? Its really hard to tell...

Re: Need Help with Registration

US Navy codes do move around and the same code can be used by different aircraft, so you need to know when you saw it and which aircraft was carrying the code at that specific time. For example, as of August 2020, F/A-18C 164719 was coded DR-207 with VMFA-312 having been stored at David-Monthan wit...

Glad I could help. I've been using them for ages. They have a very good search function - I selected the USN/USMC data and plugged in the unit and code, and it spit out the rest of the results.

Always nice to find new tools.

Thank you! I will add the database to my favorites. I appreciate the info.

Need Help with Registration

I'm looking for the bu number for VMFAT-101 Sharpshooters F/A-18C "SH-172". Any help would be much appreciated. https://pro2-bar-s3-cdn-cf4.myportfolio.com/6638b946-9542-41a7-ba97-4d315a34e3dd/5c0e517f-1be0-4fc8-8705-a9f9cb7fe0ef_rw_1920.jpg?h=7f2a59a42811aa503ae12c652120df73

Heat Haze - Mirage F1

This was HQ'd, and then rejected for Heat Haze. I definitely see some on the runway, but was hoping for some further guidance on what is acceptable. Is Heat Haze not acceptable at all, or only if it does not affect the aircraft itself? Thanks for your time. https://imgproc.airliners.net/photos/airli...

Thanks for your assessment! I tend to agree with you. I'm going to pull it from the queue and not waste your time with this one.

Pre-Screen F-15

I've come back to this photo trying to get it accepted - and I realize it's a stretch. The side/backlight is pretty strong, but I think it is worth trying to save. At least I can get some help from some of those more talented than I am! https://imgproc.airliners.net/photos/airliners/3/1/4/5815413.jp...

Re: Your top 3 of 2019

Never thought I'd have photos on this site after browsing this place in high school. The F-35 shot was a holy cow moment at the airshow, and my first (of only 4 total) accepted here. Really loved how sharp the MAX and F-16 shots came out as well. Thanks for having me.

Re: Pre-Screen F-16

I would agree with you. It feels spread out, but I like the shot. Think it’s worth sticking with it, or pull it from the queue and lighten it a bit?

I'm concerned about a "Distance" rejection potentially, but I see a few of these types of shots occasionally accepted.

"High Quality" in Screening Portal

Good afternoon, I have a photo being screened, and the status label has moved from "Screening" to "High Quality" after the first screener asked for a second opinion. I haven't seen this before. Can anyone shed light on what this means? Thank you! LSA https://i.imgur.com/tCpF1ey.p...

Re: Rejection Feedback

I don't see blurry, but I do see over-sharpening. There are jaggies visible on the cockpit windows as well as on the nose gear and nose gear doors. When I sharpen, I use a layer which allows me to then use the eraser tool on areas where jaggies appear. Send me a PM and I'd be happy to share my editi...
