I don't think Airbus doesn't feel the pressure one bit. They've sold every slot they've for the forceable future and there is no need to worry about an order of 50 planes of Ryanair. Especially, because Ryanair probably wants these planes for pennies on the dollar.

I hope to they order some A350's. It is definitely Boeing's order to lose, but with all the problems they'd lately it wouldn't be that much of a shock that they choose to spread the risk and order some Airbus wide bodies.

Which airlines still have the 744? LH, CA, KE... Pretty sure KE got rid of the 744 already and is planning to retire the 748 (and A380) as well. If you don't fancy visiting Iran at the moment, another option is Rossiya in Russia which still flies a few. I guess Atlas and Air Atlanta Icelandic still...

I think that they first need to sell some more E2's before they're capable of launching a new aircraft program. Otherwise, they need to take on too much debt and this will bring them in financial difficulty in the future.

BA has a few options. They can either decide to split their order between the 787 and the A350 depending on which need they have within their fleet. Ryanair will only fly 737's for the foreseeable, I'm sure of it. They'll flirt with Airbus and the C919, but in the end they'll only do it to try to shave some $ of the asking price of 737's.

I don't think that they'll find something. A runway overshoot in difficult weather and a compressor stall doesn't seem connected to each other. It sounds like KE wants to shift some of the blame of the runway overshoot to the airplane, or at least want to make is seem like they dealing with the situ...

This is not a problem just for Delta, but for all major US carriers. I don't think that the 788 is any better in replacing the 767 than the A338 is. Cargolux doesn’t have much of a choice. The 747 isn’t built anymore, so they have to switch to another type at some time. And as a loyal Boeing customer they’re probably going for some version of the 777.

I think it is hard for KLM to compete in the freighter market. There are lots of big competitors that can operate at a scale KLM just can’t match. So, KLM didn’t really invest in freighter lately. Maybe the Corona virus changes this. Let’s hope so.

Good effort but I’m seriously questioning if there is a market for Antonov’s in 2020. Maybe some rural airlines in Alaska and Canada? Or African and South American Airlines? But these type of airlines are often not heavy on cash. Would be a good replacement for 732’s though.

I think the only real option will be the 777X. It can never do what the 747 can, but that ship has sailed.
Freighter airlines have to make do with either second hand 747's or new 777's.
Airbus has nothing to compete and I don't see any other manufacturer step up and built a dedicated freighter.

I don’t know about FX but UPS has “hot-spares”. These planes are not in the air but on the ground and “scrambled” when a plane can’t fly. I think FX has the same thing going on. The first A350 will arrive in 2027. So that’s plenty of time for the Corona-crises to blow over. So, I believe this is the order that is least effected by the virus.
