Nassau was not "unaffected" by Dorian. They got sustained Hurricane force winds (more or less Cat 1) for a while and some higher gusts. Unless unaffected is a relative term compared to Grand Bahama, then I agree. I think the Bahamian economy is going to need people to visit more than ever...

I would completely remove Garuda. They had completely deferred their entire order before there was a crash, due to financial difficulties. The grounding just gave them a contract out they desperately needed.

If you couldn't afford the planes beforehand the groundings are of little significance.

They can stagger takeoff's on 15 to avoid aircraft landing on 9, if they are indeed landing 9. Think of it as having intersecting runways.

However flightaware is only showing the 8's in use for landing. Look closely at the approach lines.

And I've always heard that BA will not bring VLAs to JFK because they value frequency and premium seats so I'm not expecting to see BA 779's at JFK.
