And ADL until the early nineties.

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - July 2019

I could see them retaining a more full service offering on east-west flights and maybe offering a bottle of water and small snack (like chips or cheese and crackers) on all other segments. This will allow them to keep a point of difference over JQ and allow them to charge a premium but not have to ...

Re: Any Avro RJ's, or 146's operating in North America?

Cobham in Australia are still operating quite a number of 146/RJs. I think they run some scheduled services as well as charters.

I used to love flying on them in the QantasLink days, before they were replaced with the 717s.

Busy night ahead in ADL!

Just got back into ADL. There’s an SQ A380 and a VA A330 parked up that obviously aren’t supposed to be there.

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - January 2019

There are rumours swirling of Q400's by mid-year, plus the introduction (or rather, RE-introduction - hint, hint) of Ejets at one of the regional airlines. This has got me intrigued. All I can think of is Cobham. Don't forget how it worked out for Jetgo.. I'd love to see Airnorth expand into southe...

Re: “Our Standards Suck!”

If an airline can make a fair and decent profit serving hot meals on one hour flights, having free bags, handling delays better, offering more amenities, etc, then more power to them. QF made a AUD$1.6 billion (before tax) profit for FY18 whilst doing exactly that. https://www.qantasnewsroom.com.au...

Seriously? A 30 second Google search shows they appear to have retired their last pax example in 1998. That’s 20 years ago!

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - August 2018

I swear they had a 4 engined, single level aircraft in the mid-2000's. I recall seeing a relative off from ADL in 2006, and was pretty sure that it was an A340 - either that or I was seeing things at the time :D Was singapore flying the 340 out of ADL. Was my first flight on a jet. QF used a 330 on...

Re: Year 10 Work Experience-Victoria

Maybe try some of the flying schools that operate out of secondary airports? I did work experience in year 11 (I think) at a flying school at Parafield Airport, which included a couple of flights! Although that would have been in 1987 and I’m sure things have changed dramatically from a security per...

Re: Borghetti’s Virgin Australia

Not sure how many of you fly Virgin Australia with some of the comments. I fly 30-40 return trips a year. Their domestic product is the best and so are the staff. They lose on INTL. No growth no plans and not even their HKG flights will stop the flow of loses on INTL routes. They suffer as does all...

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - May 2018

It's not like Rex is preventing other carriers from flying on the routes though (excluding regulated routes, but blame that on the government not Rex)... if QF/JG/VA/FC think that Rex is really screwing over a market, they are perfectly entitled to enter it and offer the better service (and by doin...

I can’t work out how to include a photo, but a google search for other photos of this visit shows them embarking and disembarking from an RAAF 707.

Re: One Single Business-Class Cabin Concept on Narrow Body Aircraft

Not a new concept.
OzJet tried it over a decade ago (60 old-school business class seats on a 737) and lasted less than 6 months.
