Re: Emirates News and Discussion - 2023

It seems the retrofit program is way behind schedule, from my understanding just 3 aircraft in 4 months. I remember reading they were planning to ramp it up to 4 aircrafts, I don’t see that happening anytime soon. Melbourne and San Francisco were supposed to have PE at start of Feb but they are stil...

Re: Emirates News and Discussion - 2023

Any new info on the retrofit program? It seems to be way behind schedule, so far only one aircraft has been confirmed and cities like Melbourne which was planned for 1st Feb still without premium economy.

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - August 2018

The price difference between tickets bough in the UK and those in AUS is strange. I just booked a one way from LHR to MEL next month for £430 with EY the cheapest was around £360, returns with EY can be had for around £530 which is less than AUD,1000!

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - August 2018

Tellingly, the second A380 that SYD received was the one that was servicing MEL, and that's not being reinstated. Also the aircraft being downgraded is the afternoon service out of SYD, which is now competing with a QR flight at a similar time that never used to be there. That flight was never the ...

Re: Etihad CEO lays out restructuring plans

I'm still surprised the EY over the years hasn't added frequencies to its key destinations such LHR and BKK. For an airline the size of EY it should 5 daily instead of the 3 at the moment, I remember a while back EY bought LHR slots from Jet Airways and leased it back to them so getting the slots is...

Re: Etihad CEO lays out restructuring plans

I just cant see how they can focus mainly on point to point / regional air travel going forward. Abu Dhabi isn't exactly Dubai or Singapore. The timing for such decision couldn't have been worse, the main regional carriers such as Saudia, Kuwait Airways, Jordanian and Oman Air are either expanding o...

I also never understood what a premium airline would gain having a partner airline like Air Berlin. I remember being transferred from Etihad flight to Air Berlin aircraft once and was like day and night.

I just don’t know why questions were asked from the owners at every quarter. Money was just being pumped out and with nothing to show for it.

This was expected to come sooner or later... Now it makes senses! I have a database at work which shows orders and deliveries dates, when I checked Etihad deliveries until end of 2018 last week it only showed 789 and one 781 I thought it was strange as I did the same search the month before and it i...

I can only speak of my personal pax experience, Everytime we flew with EY on ULH a mix of A340/A380/B777 over the last 7 years the crew haVE always consisted of 4, two Captains and two First Officers.

Now Etihad is interested in 76% stake in Air India. Money is def not a problem at EY.

Also, Tim Clarke has indirectly confirmed closer co-op with Etihad will happen soon.

Re: The future of Etihad

Rhetorical question: Are you saying the US airlines have a case against EY? Etihad has no future as a self-sustaining airline. It is competing with multiple other national projects, which have larger networks and, in most cases, a richer local market.[/quote] Personally I think the US airlines are p...

The question I would like to know is, what fleet/route planning dept at EY are going to do with all the new aircraft due to be delivered this year. 6x B789 and the 1st B781 arriving from April at rate of approx one a 1 month. (a few planned to replace some B777ER) 1st A350-900 set to arrive in Oct. ...

Re: The future of Etihad

To understand the future of EY, one needs to remember why EY was created in the first place. The main goal was for it to support the local economy as it shift away from oil dependency, part of AD 2030 vision. To understand how important EY to AD, you need to look past the airline op side and look at...

I’m not sure why Etihad is struggling at Melbourne given the other two Gulf carriers are either increasing capacity or frequency. Any idea when EY will take the deliveries of the A320/21 Neo?

23? Etihad has a total of 41x 787-9 on order and if you combine the 30x 781 it makes etihad the largest airline customer for 787.

The first A321 neo is due is Q4 2019.
