Re: How actually “frequent” are frequent fliers?

When it was at it’s worst, I boarded a flight on average twice a week on company business trips. Roughly one third of that would be intercontinental in C. The amount of miles I earned was ridiculous, but the mere thought of spending a second of my own time onboard an airline was vomit inducing. Whi...

Re: Really great airline deals of the 80's and 90's

Last minute travel kiosks at airports in Germany. They had some killer deals. For the very adventurous, you'd show up to the airport, luggage in tow, hit the travel market, pick something and fly out the same day. Yeah! I once showed up at DUS with luggage for a one week beach vacation. Must have b...

And Oslo Gardermoen (53 km from Oslo Sentrum). But OSL has a fast train connection to the city, which effectively nullifies the distance. Yes many US airports have shared gates. Especially smaller ones. A quirk I've noticed is how British airports have those arrival lounge waiting areas and they don't announce the gate until relatively last minute. Generally everywhere else I've been, in Europe and the US, does share the gate informa...

It was an early morning flight from Bremen to Munich. For whatever reason I got upgraded into Business. I sat on 2A and in front of me sat a rather well-known German chef, well into his sixties. That's specifically more of a European phenomenon. In other parts of the world such as the Americas or Asia, LCCs tend to use jetbridges often (frequent because it's required in many airports there). Yeah, I'd seen jetbridges connected to regional aircraft from CRJs to ERJs and even ATR72s. That is...
