Ships also carry a supply of bottled CO2 to flood spaces that are on fire - mainly the engine room. Just don't do that if someone is trapped in the space by the fire because they'll die. They used to use halon until that was banned. I'm not sure starving a lithium battery fire of oxygen puts it out...
