Re: FMC TRIP/CRZ ALT

Same as Optimum altitude? BTW if you post a picture these questions become way easier. Here's the link. On top of the right corner there is "TRIP/CRZ ALT", again i know we enter the cruise altitude manually, but the TRIP one is calculaed by the FMC automatically, now i struggle to underst...

Just below this, you'll want to enter the winds and temperature for that same altitude (originall/planned or cleared altitude, if differen...

Can someone explain why the PFD in 737-800 indicates 45 knots while on the ground or parked at your stand?

Re: ICAO English language proficiency

As SAAFNAV says the advantage of level 6 is not having to re-test at specified intervals. Do airlines really care if you have ICAO English level 5 or 4? i'm not a native speaker so i can't get ICAO level 6 according to regulations. but is it really an advantage having level 5 instead of level 4? Re: Aircraft Stabilized

A stabilized approach means that the aircraft has to be "stable" at a certain point before landing. Long story short, it means that the pilots or autopilot must have the aircraft under precise control and living up to a list of requirements before being allowed to descend below a certain ...

Re: Aircraft Stabilized

I wouldn't know of any ICAO definition. At my airline our OM-A specifys stabilized as: - on vertical and horizontal profile (on an ILS max one dot diviation on either) - final configuration (flaps, gear, speedbrakes) - on speed (target +/- 5kt) - corresponding thrust/power - steady attitude - rate ...

Build-up

I was listening to a radio communication between pilot and ATC and the pilot said "request 10 degrees heading change right of track to avoid build-up".

Now what does he mean by build-up? is he referring to ice build-up or cumulonimbus clouds?
