Re: Embraer KC-390 prototype off runway at Gavião Peixoto test facility

that's very true. However what were they DOING to cause such a last ditch structural emergency response? I will be very curious to see what emerges.

Re: AF66 CDG-LAX (A388-F-HPJE) diverts to Goose Bay (YYR) with an uncontained engine failure to #4 engine

Any news about the investigation into the engine incident? The only news I have found is a months old article behind a paywall, saying the french BEA may send a team of investigators to Greenland to search for more engine parts. By this point I expect any remaining parts to be frozen beneath at leas...

Re: LOT news thread - 2018

When you look at the new Central Airport from a purely political perspective it seems like a grandiose mega project that only dictatorships like China or Turkey would undertake. But if you look at it from a aviation enthusiast point of view, especially one who travels frequently through WAW (like m...

Re: Brexit - EU position

As an aside, Sorry to tommy1808 for misspelling his name. Now, as I said, fixing the exchange rate between Denmark and its biggest trade partners is a practical decision, not due to any coercion, legal or political. The European exchange rate mechanism framework obliges Denmark to keep it, but Denma...

Re: Brexit - EU position

Denmark not officially joining the EURO is just like Brexit with access to the common market. Follow all the rules, but have no saying about the rules. 180 degrees wrong. Denmark's situation is identical to Britain as an EU member, except that the UK was a CRM member only for a brief period in 1991...

Re: Embraer KC-390 prospects

To literally translate, "A wing might break, but not the landing gear. What could occur is the gear bending, which would prevent further structural damage to the airframe." Thanks, that's interesting. I believe the US would want a platform with tactical landing capability if replacing the...

Re: Embraer KC-390 prospects

thank you very much. Google translate did a good job translating the article. What does "“Pode quebrar uma asa, mas não o trem de pouso”, compara Taucci sobre um eventual acidente. O que pode ocorrer é o trem dobrar, um recurso para evitar maiores danos ao avião." mean? The translation com...

In case anyone was interested, I found some pictures of the landing gear, although they are not very clear. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ej02m8ti44yumxr/foto-2-materia-Ag-Forca-Aerea-sobre-trem-de-pouso-KC-390-FAB.jpg?dl=0 http://www.aereo.jor.br/wp-content/uploads//2016/05/foto-2-materia-Ag-Forca-Aer...

Re: Embraer KC-390 prospects

Oh ok. I was confused by the appearance of the main landing gear in flight, where it seems to have a low hanging pair of trailing wheels, typical of conventional single strut landing gear bogies. But now I read that the gear is supposed to be designed for low CBR value runways so in that case i gues...

Re: Embraer KC-390 prospects

I believe the US would want a platform with tactical landing capability if replacing the C-130. the quite conventional landing gear as well as the relatively low turbofan engines are not ideal for landing and takeoff into semi-prepared runways.

Re: AF66 CDG-LAX (A388-F-HPJE) diverts to Goose Bay (YYR) with an uncontained engine failure to #4 engine

It has taken longer than I would have thought. If it is indeed due to repairs to the wing you start to wonder, if they are already into that territory whether simply proceeding with installing a new functional engine wouldn't be most straightforward. I thought the problem with Goose Bay was the diff...

the spanish seem to have no luck with the type, considering they have the highest number of accidents, while having the least amount of planes out of the original partners.

Re: AF66 CDG-LAX (A388-F-HPJE) diverts to Goose Bay (YYR) with an uncontained engine failure to #4 engine

It has been a week since some engine parts were found, but there were reports of worsening weather preventing further searching. such conditions can last for weeks in Greenland, and there seems to me to be a risk that the remaining parts have been buried in snow, preventing visual discovery. It migh...

there's a three day old article in danish describing a bit about the search (selected bits below, my translation): https://knr.gl/da/nyheder/air-greenland-har-fundet-franske-flydele-på-indlandsisen Det fortæller Martin Puggaard, chef for Havarikommissionen i Danmark. - Vores opgave er at finde og bj...
