Was there a significant cost differential for British 707 vs VC10? Could they fill specific routs with one type JFK all VC10 BOS ORD JNB all 707
There may be other reasons than just popularity.

Two questions 1, Did they fly 9s to San Angelo? I thought just Convairs.
2 Did BA have Comets at SAT? Could it have been MX?

Aside from Princeton and other suburbs 20-40 miles from PHL consider concentric distances from many other airports. How far from BOS, ATL, IAH, DEN MSP to the nearest international gateway, or a smaller domestic city. Yes BOS loses to PVD, but what are the concentric distances of respective catchmen...

I flew PA 707s several times late 60s-70s mostly in coach, colors were subdued not bright. First class (1 lucky flight) was grey or light blue. Service was up scale, obviously better than the 80s. Several 1st class trips were fine(I think TWA was better) but coach had become a cattle call.

Local pax is very telling, A UA pax from MCI can get to LHR via ORD IAD and EWR. Choice due to times, fares, equipment can determine the route.

For TYO why not try a daily split with MIA (maybe stop some whining) PHL 4x MIA 3x and see how it goes. AA or JL metal works for both hubs, prefer to see JL metal out of Philly

Why so nasty? That is a reasonable question given geographic limitations, and may be due some consideration, certainly B4 other cities go to 2nd and 3rd carriers.

PHL is frequently overlooked due to NYC bleed, (also IAD on the southern metro edges 2 - 2.5 hrs). A very strong University base U Penn, Temple, Villanova, Drexel, plus many more, bleed again with Princeton and Rutgers to EWR, A nonstop would pick up some of that loss. A strong med-tech base also. Part of this is USA hotels are not set up for 7days in - 7days out. They cater to long weekends, week vacations, but sometimes Sat - Sat or Wed =Wed, 10 days if vacations permit. Business stays at the same hotel. As mentioned the US3 can work well around this scenario.

I did AC PHL YYZ SCL better fare but also more convenient than bussing from LGA to JFK

Sorry, I should have said inbound PHL connex, would be a double connex but still good price points for CLE,DTW,DFW,STL etc, now they will have 1 stop connex

Flew out of PHL in August. Loads were almost full, including up front. Did LHR connex,,not nearly as full. With all the new KFE flights FI and WOW, route becomes more O/D. lots of PHL connex cities will have their own N/S

Also Istanbul - I boarded in IST stopped in FRA (saw my first 747s) and continued on to LHR, It was still daylight, normal west to east Europe to NA. Many sights have access to timetables, as the times changed due to seasons, DST and equipment.

The large numbers were primarily due to the mission, lots of transcons and Hawaii before their influx of international,
Was lucky my 6th flight was a UAL DC8-21 LAX IAD PHL, Also flew their 50s 61s and 62s
My first jet was also an 8 KLM 50 JFK AMS

First post and a question

On a flight after a recent merger an Airwest flight and ticket LAX - MRY was flown by a Bonanza DC-9 (10) with crew, service items etc
all as Bonanza, can that count as Bonanza or does it need to be logged as Airwest. Not Hughes Airwest (the bananas)
