Easter Island is stairs only. Has been since opening. Currently LAN flies there with B787 but it has been other equipment in the past, incl. A340, etc.

Every ex-LH A343 that went into "storage" was scrapped almost immediately or sold onward to places like Iran. Most if not all 300s that left the fleet were the plain jane -300, not the -300X that are still in use.

Delta actually flew ANC-NRT fairly recently with the 757. They were positioning flights sold the the public. Surely any Asia links to Alaska would be via Tokyo or somewhere like PEK.

I believe FI actually did have the 737NG on order and even took delivery of some, but they immediately leased them onto other carriers. For a while (not sure if they still do this) but they had an aircraft holding business called Flugleidir Icelandair Group. Delta did something similar with many of ...

One that really comes to mind is Anniston, AL; a similar case to TCL and Roma, GA with prior E120 service to Atlanta. A small terminal is available at Anniston as well and I think the combined metro areas of Anniston, Oxford, Jacksonville, and Talladega could support daily CRJ service to Altanta or ...

The only hole in their network I see at least on the east coast is the Hampton Roads area. AirTran seemed to have a mini hub setup at PHF with flights to Florida and the northeast (they even offered connections); as I recall the only reason it closed was to consolidate post-merger operations at ORF....

Ah yes, those were the days. Last domestic leg I took on a 764 was probably ATL-LAS, 2008 or so. Many here would be surprised to know that until ~10 years ago the 764 was flying almost exclusively domestic.
