I remember reading posts here years ago about how profitable Boeing was and how Airbus must be massively inefficient or giving their planes away for free.

How times have changed. It seems Boeing went too far in the pursuit of efficiency’.

RR does have an exclusive on the A330NEO and A350. I can understand GE wanting to use surplus GEnX capacity. Nothing wring with pitching to Airbus. Now exclusives have a time limit, only reduced by contract violation. All widebodies, except the A350, are short on backlog at a time when vI would exp...

It is hard work to be the hanger queen of the fleet, but someone got to do it. Re: Rolls Royce 3.7 Meter dia. Engine

The 787 fuselage has more than half a metre (20 inches) lower ground clearance than the 777/777X and A350. Also, the engines on the 787 are already mounted as high on the wing as that of the 777X. Hence, the 787 has much less room for engine growth than that of the A350. https://www.boeing.com/reso...

Yes, you can. On some type (787), you can change the engine easily, as Boeing said. However, on some other types, it isn't easy to change the engines' type. You have to change and edit the wing structure, bunches of systems, etc. As I understand it, easily changing engines on the 787 was a design a...

What I hear from inside City Flier is that both the A220 and the E2’s are still in the running. The existing fleet will be replaced and the first new aircraft will arrive in 2021.

Personally I think this will go to Embraer. Simpler transition and Airbus clearly aren’t as desperate for sales.
