Re: AA drops ORD-PEK

I'd be shocked if the DOT allowed AA to sit on these frequencies after beating Delta for the LAX-PEK frequencies they both wanted. And then I'd be shocked if Delta didn't get them for its own LAX-PEK flight, which will make that route even more of a blood-bath.

10 B-2s over Minneapolis

The Minneapolis spotter community is in quite a tizzy after 10 B-2s (two flights of four and one flight of 2) passed over Minneapolis today. They appeared to be headed WNW, toward a flock of 12 KC-10s orbiting near the S.Dakota/N.Dakota border. Most likely just some sort of simulated surge training ...

Re: Sun Country (SY) strands hundreds of passengers in Mexico and tells them to find their own way home

OP here. I just want to note that it seems like Sun Country has finally succumbed to the out-roar and committed to providing all of the Mazatlan and Cabo passengers with a complete reimbursement of their out-of-pocket transportation expenses, in addition to the refunds of the unflown portion of thei...

And how, exactlt is this Sun Country's problem? Did a tour operator sell seats for flights that did not exist?

Sun Country had flights canceled for the snow, and chose not to find a way to accommodate its passengers. It’s not illegal, but it’s certainly distasteful.

Sun Country (SY) strands hundreds of passengers in Mexico and tells them to find their own way home

Re: Delta Connection - 2018 Status and Future Plans

It’s worth nothing that DL owns 20% of YX and 100% of EV. So those two will stay around for a while. OO is one of the most stable legacies, so that’s probably Safe. Anything else could change. The situation with CP is interesting, because it’s a former NW owned, with a since exhausted flow through ...

Re: Largest US-MEX Markets w/o Nonstop Service

In their JV application, DL/AM listed MSP-MEX as one of the routes they would likely add. Interestingly, it's also the largest unserved international destination from MSP, so it seems like just a matter of time, especially given that it can be flown by a narrowbody. DL tried MSP-MEX with an A319 an...

Re: Delta A350 Future Routes

I thought I had read the first 350s would be used mostly on DTW to Pacific Rim routes such as NRT, PEK & PVG. And that SEA-HKG might also be a candidate for early use. If that’s the only cases then DL’s not really going to need many more than 15 or so aircraft. There will have to be more than j...

Delta is not done with YX, quite the contrary, not sure where these rumors show up. They just took delivery over the last few months of 6 former Compass E70's. YX has been instrumental in the BOS build up and will continue to do so. Currently running not only the LGA-BOS shuttle but BOS-MKE, BOS-IN...

Do you know when the DTW RWY construction will end? I heard in a few days they will be done. I'm also surprised they have the same route back to back.

Rwy construction runs through 9/19.

Re: Future of DL at NRT and ICN

I'll second the notion that fifth freedom flying currently carried out on DL metal over TYO won't be carried over to ICN. You've got in ICN one of if not the best connecting hub in North Asia with a robust partner network in KE. Really no reason for DL to fly the routes via fifth freedom versus lev...

Re: Should MSP get more TATL and TPAC service from international airlines?

A MEX-MSP flight has been mooted in filings with the DOT as part of the AM-DL JV. So that should be just a matter of time. An MSP-ICN flight seems likely once the DL-KE JV matures somewhat. A couple years probably, though the local market is still tiny (PDEW at the end of the post.) Richard Anderson...

If this is anything like Delta's other terminal investments, it will make most of its money back in the form of "rent credits." In other words, they won't be paying the PANYNJ for a long while.

Both are seasonal 1x per week flights. They'll both be fine. I just find the timing a bit odd. They don't seem to bothered by SY anywhere else, but a Saturday only flight to AUA is the one they jump at to overlay? I'm rooting for SY, be nice to see the underdog take on mother DL and win Delta match...

With the recent addition at MSP's terminal 2, I am not sure I believe that Southwest doesn't have room to expand service. Re: MSP - Role In DL Network and Expansion Potential

For the same reason MSP is not linked to MEX,FCO and FRA. AMS and CDG are way bigger players in the Delta system than ICN is. CDG and AMS are hubs that provide connections to Europe in the same way that ICN would provide connections to much of Asia. I don't understand what MEX, FCO or FRA have to d...

There is a net reduction of 8 seats. From 246 to 238. Wireless IFE for both. So, is the 764 keeping some C...
