Re: 737 tail shaking on power up

yes that's true MCDU, but sometimes people don't always say what they mean....Given the nature of the crash and the configuration of the aircraft at the time of the crash which wasn't in the landing configuration I assumed he meant the flap block speeds for 1-10 and wasn't referring to Vref..My faul...

Re: 737 tail shaking on power up

Didn't they also increase the approach speed so that if there is a rudder hardover the pilots will have enough control authority to keep the plane from continuing the roll? No the speeds were not increased for rudder hard over The speeds were increased because the airplane has geometric limits with...

Re: 737 tail shaking on power up

question related to the high power test runs in the videos: how are brakes and chocks able to keep aircraft from moving when the engines are at TOGA thrust levels? Not only might they not be at full power, but I believe it's only one engine at a time. I could be wrong though. This has always been m...

Re: Another United gaffe - forces doctor off plane

I'm assuming nobody stood up for the guy for a few reasons....perhaps they didn't feel like interfering with the police which could get you tasered, arrested, beat, or shot!!!! You simply need to let the POPO's do their job I suppose. I'm not saying they have the right to use excessive force obviou...

Re: Another United gaffe - forces doctor off plane

I understand what you are saying, it still difficult for me to understand why people do not stand up against physical abuse by police officers at the spot, not after when the damage has been already done. It seems to me police actions can not be questioned and as an outsider the inmense number of b...

Re: Another United gaffe - forces doctor off plane

OSUk1d - I'm with you on this.....people don't think about it in the big picture. They only think about it in the context of how it affects them personally....Ask them this....Say they were one of the passengers of that other flight.... It's not the customers responsibility (read that as problem) t...

Re: Another United gaffe - forces doctor off plane

I bet you they would have put him on the next flight or even another airline to get him where he needed to go. They have done it to me before, and it wasnt an issue. I doubt if there would have a been a problem had they offered to put him on the AA flight from ORD to SDF, which went out one hour la...

Re: Another United gaffe - forces doctor off plane

so you'd rather cancel a whole flight the next day than inconvenience four people on that flight? Yes, I'd rather they cancel a flight than kick my ass and drag me down the aisle with a bloody face.... Duh! Clearly I'm not talking about the point of view of the person who refused to leave the plane...

Re: Another United gaffe - forces doctor off plane

Interesting story. I heard from another source that it was a last minute change due to the need to get crewmembers to SDF to fill in for a flight that for one reason or another had no crew available. If it was an overbooking issue it would have been dealt with at the gate prior to boarding I would a...
