Re: SAS Sells of two slots at LHR

That's an incredible amount to pay for just 2 slots, but I guess its the price to play. On a different note, doesn't United have slots that AC and Virgin are using to LHR?

Re: AA reportedly investing in China Southern Airlines

As someone who doesn't have a dog in this fight, let me propose something else for discussion: what else was AA going to do? Their Pacific operation is a shell compared to the big boys; DL and UA. And of those 2, UA is eating every ones lunch in the Pacific and to try and catch them just isn't going...

Re: NFL Raiders to LAS, How Will it Impact OAK

Economics wise there will be an effect on the city, just not as big as the NFL claims a city adds to its revenue. Outside of a small blip, nothing. With 8 home games and 2 pre-season, this certainly isn't worth having a thread on.

Re: UA Denies Boarding to Non-Rev Girl in Leggings, Social Media Revolts

I think it's funny that your assumption is the pass rider caused a scene, or that it was a pass rider and not an active employee. All we know is that someone observed the gate agent telling the standby passenger they couldn't board and started tweeting. Rhd3: Just so you are familiar with company po...

Re: UA Denies Boarding to Girl in Leggings, Social Media Revolts

Wow, the millennials "rules don't apply to me" are out in force today. Its real simple people, "We own the airplane, we get to make the rules. When you own the plane, you will get to make the rules." Employee gave away the passes and pass rider caused a scene? Guaranteed, those p...

Re: Number of airplanes with StarAlliance livery

Maybe its just me, but I think the livery is just ugly. The font on the fuselage is to thin in relation to plane size and so blah. No life, nothing that draws eye appeal to it. Just put a sticker by the door and leave the airlines original livery intact.

Sounds like a marketing ploy to me. I can just see the adds on the expressway, "Newest airliner for the gateway to the world." AA flights out of Chicago as others have shown, is a shadow of its International self.

Re: Will Delta or United order Airbus A320neo family aircraft?

DL doesn't order new planes; they have to be at least 15 years old and have gone thru 3 airlines for them even to consider adding to their fleet. United only orders Boeing's so that should answer your question. All jokes aside, that pretty much is the truth to airplane orders for both carriers.

UA seperated from Boeing in 1931. Would be very difficult to find any employees left from that era still around working.

Re: Spirit Airlines Pilot, Wife, Die of Overdose

There have been instances where pilots 'appear' to be under the influence and have reported to work. Unfortunately because of union rules, no breath, blood, or urine sample may be taken without a union rep in attendance. Only problem is the rep is 500 miles away and not answering their phone, and wh...

Re: AA to set up $100mil Maintenance Center at GRU

I'm always amazed that major airlines will allow a $200 or $300M airplane to sit for 10, 12, or more hours just for a return flight. There used to be a saying in the industry, "How much money does a plane make sitting on the ground?" I guess the bean counters in a cubicle back at the home ...

Excuse me, but aren't these 'classics' getting close to 'the geriatric home' in the airline world? I realize fuel is down in relation to a few years ago, but there is a 'cost' in keeping them airborne.
