DEL-SFO increase? Or is it Mumbai? Sounds to me that AI is trying to head off UA from serving Silicon Valley-India while they still can; at least if the rumors are true. They may not have the right equipment or even planes to serve the route(s) but they want to make sure UA doesn't out of their SFO ...Jump to post
Are the different employee groups paid less than their counter parts at other carriers of similar size? Not what they see other larger carriers being paid, but what a carrier of similar size, revenue, and employees are being paid. We all think we are being paid less than what we are worth, but just ...Jump to post
Is this a real thread? You have the data, why put it out there? Especially on a topic like this. Use some common sense before engaging.Jump to post
1) Yes the AA birds were some of the best looking ones out there; but Braniff had individual personality. 2) Was it the 100 or 200 that had the seat come out of the galley for the FA on take-off and landing? 3) Does anyone know about the 3 or is it 4 birds parked at Chino, Ca airport (CNO) that have...Jump to post
Having flown out of there on a number of occasions i will say, you could close one, or both of the terminals and make it strictly FIS and the loss of terminal, gates, or facilities would not be missed. The shops are closed, there are no passengers, and the place is a ghost town. Its a waste to spend...Jump to post
Why? Have any of these administrative geniuses taken a walk at ANY time of day or night ans seen the obvious. There are no customers in any of the concourses. People dont use this airport and there are more employees than passengers. Lets not even begin discussion on the IE and how it still hasnt re...Jump to post
I wonder what it takes to take Boeing out of their doldrums, maybe if they loose this customer or one of the unthinkables (Ryanair-Southwest), they will finally bite the bullet and launch the new SA and MOM... The last time Boeing lost United, it was over their bid to replace the 727-222s with 737-...Jump to post
$24M for 26 refrigerators; about $900K apiece? Someones brother in-law is retiring off this. Ridiculous. There are two identical VC-25's, aka "Air Force One's". Tail numbers 28000 and 29000. That means your calculation is off by 100%. Better luck next time. No it wpuld be off by 50% since...Jump to post
I am impressed with how 777 will pass the 747 in a shorter time span.
On a separate note: enough from the fan boys. This is a thread on 777 and 747. Go create your own thread and once again, quit trying to hijack one to fit your views children.

At that same conference it was reported that UA said the MOM will be here in 9-10 years and that UA expects to add it to their fleet. They also said that Boeing will make a firm decision on it possibly by late '18, and that UA is holding off at replacement of the 757/767 until then. So sounds to me ...Jump to post
Just imagine if everyone of their flight attendants lost 10 pounds. (Some of those co babes could lose 40.)
We are talking serious fuel savings then.
8 hours in a 321? Do uou get a shoe horn to pry yourself out of the seat on arrival?Jump to post
Sad that someone just going to work loses their life because a fringe group doesnt get their way and starts killing people to make their point. Thoughts and prayers to all victums of another terrorist attack.Jump to post
[photoid]non[/photoid] Im always amazed at the guys who design and build planes. Here is a flight that goes 17+ hours, arrives at its destination and refuels. Then what, 2 hours later it flies back. And its mostly water it flies over so they better have gotten it right because not a lot of places to...Jump to post
I figured the 'old girl' was dead and all we were waiting for was the funeral. Congrates to Airbus and EK for pulling this off. But having spent some time in sales and marketing, the discount on these birds, which reality is no one wants, had to be enormous. Possibly at cost, with spares and mainten...Jump to post
Much ado about nothing. Does anyone in their right mind, except the DL fan boys, think UA is just going to sit there and not reply? They will increase flights on this route and DL will get stuck with discount fares and they will pull out of this market instead of eating a loss. Its a UA hub, an inte...Jump to post

Do these 727 birds have 'hush kits,' or are they the real screamers?Jump to post
Desperate times, desperate measures.
Just kill this dinosaur and move on.
However this turns out, Boeing needs to make sure those 727s continue to fly. That should have been written into the contract. They are passenger antiques and need to keep flying. And, while we are on the topic, lets get those 747-100's that Sahara flew, back up in the air as well. Boeing can make w...Jump to post
If El Al stays as a 'niche' player in this market they will do fine. The problem happens when they try a step out of that realm and the big guys notice them trying to take away market share, they turn their 'resources' on them. But just as a point-2-point, they will be ok.Jump to post
Then tell them to keep the .48 cent per hour raise and just put it in my account. That will solve the whole issue and you don't have to feel bad for taking it.Jump to post

Looks like some Dems are just trying to make some money off the public under the guise of an 'alternative' to the existing power base. Reality is the Dems have no power in any of the three branches of government and won't for a while. So they may talk a good game, but ll they want is the check. Get ...Jump to post
I have a much better idea: All of you who want to bitch, complain, and moan over a measly $1,000, I just set up a special fund. Do not take the money and instead tell your company to deposit it in my fund account where it will be put to an appropriate use. Jeez, complain you are not paid enough, the...Jump to post

I read one time a description of what happens when a plane turns into a gate and the word that I have always remembered is 'symphony.' That it takes all different departments working in concert for a plane to be turned. Amazing that it can be pulled off, even more amazing that it is done tens of tho...Jump to post
I was at ONT one day years ago and in comes an Air Uganda 707 combi. It tried to get tower approval to land and they were told, at the time, their were no customs facilities and to continue to LAX. The pilot refused and put her down. The plane was immediately surrounded by security and they had to w...Jump to post
I was talking to a co pilot and he said they were always pushing the envelope with the 757-300 to see how far they could send it. It was part of their strategy since they did not have a lot of WB planes and would have to use NB equipment on a particular route.Jump to post
Imagine, prices rise as competition decreases. Sounds like econ 101. And there is a 'watch dog' group whose entire job is to file complaints against this?Jump to post
Yes they will. About the same time that dinosaurs return to the planet.Jump to post
