Seoul (GMP/ICN): Actually a fairly straightforward transfer as the A'REX train (Only the slower "Commuter" Train, though) stops at GMP, taking 37 mins. If only the Express Train stops at GMP also, that would have been even better. I would put Seoul on top of my list. The express train use...Jump to post
Once again, I don't get the hate for CDG. As long as you stick to Skyteam you'll be in terminal 2E/F and those are pretty nice, connecting between both can be a pain if you have to go to/from satellite L or M but thats about it. One bad thing with T2E is that there is no automated luggage system bet...Jump to post
I was just wondering which aiport had the most 5th freedom routes, SIN must be high up there with EK, MK, KL, BA, QF, ET and many more in the past. And whilst we're at it, what is your favorite 5th freedom route ? Mine would have to be be CMB - MLE, a seemingly normal route that has 5 airlines dueli...Jump to post
CX has re-iterated that “there are definitely no plans for first class out of Australia” - not a surprise. See: https://www.ausbt.com.au/cathay-pacific-brings-first-class-suites-to-sydney-hong-kong-flights. Cheers, C. I don't know, with all the first class to and from SIN with QF, SQ, EK and BA I w...Jump to post

Why would they want to do this though ... A few points: - For safety, smaller planes like props need a greater separation distance from other aircraft when taking off or landing, so moving props to XSP reduces pressure on SIN, from an operational POV. - The slow approach speed of props means that i...Jump to post
Why would they want to do this though, Singapore is small enough to justify funnelling everything into Changi. Thanks to ECP its actually more convenient to go to Changi than it is to Seletar. Changi isn't congested and it's a nice airport, absolutely no reason to want to split service. I'd say gett...Jump to post
Apparently they are also planning for the fused satellites to be fully international and the other satellites will be schengen only (can someone confirm or deny this ?). Long term this is a good idea I reckon, the way T1 is built is kind of awkward for widebody movement, this should help.Jump to post
AF/KLM is looking into a potential JV with UX to battle competition on routes from Europe to South America.

In testimony to Senate Minister of Infrastructure, Danilo Toninelli stated government has received interest from 3 parties for sale of AZ. 1. LH Group 2. Easyjet, Air France and eCerberus jointly 3. Wizz Air I really wonder what would happen if option 2 realizes itself, I really can't see a shortha...Jump to post

Makes sense for DL. When is Virgin Atlantic going to join Skyteam? That would make the whole thing seamless. I'm guessing they'd wait for this to pass to keep all chances ln their side. 4 skyteam airlines in almost all of the important european markets looks even worse. I wonder if there will be pr...Jump to post
CAN is doing pretty well considering the growth from nearby SZX and HKG.
Slightly off topic but wow I never realized how quickly ICN was growing, and it's been sustaining this pace for a few years now. At this rate they'll be in the top 10 in a few years !

What I would rather like them to do is to try to make Pudong more attractive for it to compete better with Hongqiao in the eyes of the public (expanding the Maglev line to the west bank? building freight lines that go directly to the logistics zone through the port?). My thoughts exactly, the magle...Jump to post
I am surprised that Qatar are flying the A380 here ... Me too - for 1x A380, they could've done 2x 788's or 2 332's instead, and offered a superior schedule. PER doesn't strike me as having sufficient i) premium demand (like SYD) or ii) bulk masses demand (like BKK) to warrant the 388 from QR. Perh...Jump to post

Minor news but seems like flight numbers for KE have changed starting today.
KE 902 CDG-ICN became KE 910
KE 901 ICN-CDG became KE 909
KE 5902 CDG-ICN became KE 5910 (AF codeshare)
KE 5901 ICN-CDG became KE 5909 (AF codeshare).
Could this mean KE is planning new service to Europe ?
I think there used to be KE A380 service to ATL a while back, and considering that now DL owns a route to ICN, it's been cut down, and the two JV. Aside from EK benefiting on their monopoly, this mighty beluga is that large and long distance hub to hub machine. The A380 was removed when relations b...Jump to post

KLDC10 wrote:Go for it. You'll receive the same service, albeit in a smaller cabin (which is a nicer experience to begin with). The crew downstairs don't serve the upper deck - there a dedicated FAs for that. It's quieter upstairs too.
(even with the loss of KTX service from ICN https://kojects.com/2018/06/10/incheon-airport-ktx-suspended/). To be fair it wasn't that practical anyway, ICN bound trains would stop at Seoul station and Geomam forever. It was quicker (and marginally cheaper) to get off, check-in luggage and all then ...Jump to post
Definitely not. People don't realize how huge ATL-ICN is from an O&D perspective. ATL is the 5th largest US-Korea O&D market. Only LAX, NYC, HNL, and SFO are larger. ICN is ATL's single largest international O&D market (not LHR, not even CUN or YYZ). Much of this traffic originates from...Jump to post

SAA’s eventual fleet replacement will be an A330NEO/A350 fleet or a B787-8/9/10. (maybe with a few B777x’s). This will have to be decided sooner rather than later I have serious doubts about the 787 at SAA. Hot&high conditions at JNB just don't mix well with the 787, especially if then intend o...Jump to post
Besides geography, we're talking about 2 OW flights from BOS vs. 1xEK, 1xQR, 2xHU With QR the OW counter goes up to 3 (just nitpicking) And I'll add one more thought. If DL/KE are not careful SQ who have already announced that they are terminating ICN-LAX, could preempt them both by moving the rout...Jump to post
