The other day I was on a MAX 8 seated just forward of the engine. I noticed what looked like thousands of tiny holes on the inside of the inlet and I was wondering what their purpose was. Are they part of the laminar flow nacelle design or something else?

Just an observation. There are a lot of doors on the aircraft, passenger, cargo, and equipment. We don't raise work orders to open and close doors. They are opened and closed all the time.
