Re: Kentucky Aviation Thread 2018

"The article should note that CVG , BNA and IND enplanements include significant amounts of connecting traffic WN uses BNA as a Focus City and I would guesstimate 3M-4M of thier passenger enplanements are connecting traffic vs O&D; CVG is still a DL hub and would guesstimate 1M-2M enplanem...

More A321s for BNA. AA has loaded the early morning departure to LAX as an A321 in their schedule load for November last night.

Seems unlikely especially with HTS that already has G4 just about 50 miles away. Further CVG and CMH are also an easy drive nearby.

Yep, they are putting 3x CRJ/ERJ-135/145 instead of 2x CR7/ERJ-135/145. I don't know about TYS historically in particular, but 3x is pretty common for IAD-based UAX flights: --one 8 a.m.-ish departure after all the West Coast redeyes arrive --one 5-6 p.m.-ish departure after the European arrivals -...

TUL is not in the same league as CID and TYS. TUL will be ok. The AA flight to MIA goes our full every Saturday. I love (sarcasm) these type of comments. Why do you think TUL is not in the same league as TYS? On review of BTS stats TUL is about 2.7 million passengers in last year and TYS is right a...

UA ORD-HPN JAN 3>1.2 FEB 3>1.0 MAR 3>1.0 APR 3>1.0 MAY 3>1.0 This surprises me. To the point that I'm wondering if it could be a misfile. It is still loaded at 3 daily. This appears to be the ongoing transition to Air Wisconsin flying for United Express. For some reason it appears as a cut in these...

On the home front, I think we'll see AVL-MSY in the next year or so. Would love to see that, it's a really cool city. The numbers are pretty low though, about 11 PDEW, add 23 to that if you include GSP. I guess being a base helps. I wonder if G4 starts international flying that they might do someth...

Funny that this thread got started because I was thinking about starting one last week. I saw a G4 757 at TYS doing the TYS-LAS flight. I thought they were supposed to be gone as well. Obviously they are still flying. It was a pleasant surprise and nice to see them still in the air. Hopefully this w...

My guess is this is only the beginning. If one looks closely, there are market increases and decreases...

Re: Largest cities not served by WN

TYS supposedly loses 20% passengers to primarily BNA. A good percentage of these passengers fly WN. I am not sure what would entice WN to come to TYS and spend money to open the market when they are already serving many of these passengers via BNA. Maybe the extra business passengers that are less ...

Does anyone think WN would have any luck in TYS or CHA? That is a very good question? TYS supposedly many years ago was on the short list of new destinations but ultimately wn went with BHM. That made sense as it is a larger market and they didn't serve the state of Alabama. Fast forward many years...

TYS-EWR went from 1x daily ERJ to Daily 737 + E45 plus 3x weekly A320 Huge capacity increase. And surprisingly load factors aren't that bad although I assume fares are cheap. Yes, they have been selling Y fares for advanced purchase for $120 r/t. Pretty nice for the Knoxville market that consistent...

They started mainline in these 3 cities shortly after Allegiant launched EWR flights from these 3 cities. I was clearly retaliatory. TYS has not had mainline since late 2001 on United. I thought it was interesting but didn't get much attention on here. I would be curious if anyone on here would know...

I honestly thought for sure G4 would add TYS-MSY this year as a seasonal destination. However, it is getting a little late to announce this year so maybe I can hope for next year. Allegiant has a nice following here in TYS and this summer will operate 30+ weekly flights so I think a 2 times weekly M...

I don't think many folks expected this one. If it works, they might up the frequency later on. They moved YYZ to daily and year-round. As for G4, I don't think they would do well here. Pretty much every destination they would fly to here already has some level of service at or nearby. I'd expect NK...

I always find it amusing how people have differing opinions when discussions arise like this. I am sure it falls largely based on the size of the city/airport that you use/follow. You have the crowd that feels every airport that serves less than a million passengers should be closed and those people...

This is an intriguing add to me. I realize that both areas are thriving and both cities have a large DL presence.
