Re: Airbus unveiling three hydrogen concept plane today at 2pm CET

Hydrogen has a gravimetric energy density of 142MJ/kg. Jet-A will give you 40MJ/kg. (Batteries are like 1MJ/kg at best). My personal thought (with no real math or calcs) is that H2 airliners are best suited for long, trunk routes. The square-cube law dictates that larger LH2 tanks will be more effic...

There's no place on earth to store the oil. The geopolitical reasons (I strongly suspect) are Saudi Arabia and Russia trying to drive US producers bankrupt, so they are pumping oil even during a demand shock, creating a massive glut. Re: Official: Airbus announces A380 production to end in 2021

Airbus is now pretty much entirely depended on the 320, 330, and 350 (A220 to a lesser extent). This has been the case for a few years, ending the 380 just formalized the status quo. Boeing has the 737MAX, the 777X, the 787, the 797/MOM project. I'm heavily interested in seeing what the next thing A...

A sad time for aviation. The A380 may have not been the most impressive plane when it came to its business case, nor even its appearance. I think there's a way to make this even worse for ME3. India is bigger than most people realize, and the trains are horrid and slow. Hello all, So I'm sure many of you on this forum have heard of ramjets, which would be ideal for supersonic travel but have one drawback - they need to be accelerated to high speeds to be made efficient. I read that a Ramjet becomes "self sustaining" at speeds of above Mach 0.5, which got ...

This would scare me quite a bit if I were EK. A fleet of 50 widebodies connecting Europe and North America to a massive domestic network in India is a huge threat to EK's current model and takes away a big chunk of EK's most important market.

I honestly don't see why Airbus didn't throw on a simple stretch to the A380 plus. It is not financially or technically hard to stretch a plane by 2-3 meters, which in the case of the A380 would add 80 more seats.

Keep in mind that EK's average fleet age is around 6 years and they probably want to keep it below 10. 777Xs will replace the 77W on most routes and some 380s, and EK will order 380+ to replace the rest of their A380s.
