But that doesn't mean WN won't grow. Expecting a customer to fail usually results in lost market share.
Anyone who catches the A221 out of DFW will be in for an enjoyable trip. Had the chance to fly a 221 last week on DFW-SLC on my way to SEA and was blown away by what a great ship it is. I wasn't too happy when DL swapped out the scheduled 221 with a 712 on my DTW-DFW return flight, but I'd gladly t...Jump to post
Thanks for posting my favorite Sunday mourning thread so early (although you have mentioned it depends on how early the data is available). This weekly chess match is my favorite A.net thread!!Jump to post
More A220s than any one of the hubs. I see this as a stealth way for DL to challenge AA in their DFW hub. It's not a full on attack with tons of capacity which would precipitate a massive response (and DL already tried that once). It's a way to see if they can shake lose some AA flyers - enough to ...Jump to post

Why doesn't this surprise me. Citing customer comfort as the reason for giving you less how ironic. Thing is, there is only that much space - and your recline may mean less room for me or vice versa. So it can work both ways. THose in the last row will definitely benefit (got smashed a few times), ...Jump to post
New OAG changes: DL DTW-SMF SEP 0.8>0.6 As a loyal Delta flyer - about once a week over the past month with the same on tap -- the issue for me is, there aren't may places that DTW is a better connecting option than ATL or MSP or SLC. About the only places that I fly to that would make sense to ...Jump to post
Virgin Atlantic just posted on their Facebook page they're offering special " Rescue fares" to WW pax stranded by the shutdown. Great move by VS. What they lose in short term revenue will be made up by long term goodwill :) Lose a little on every seat but make it up with volume. It's work...Jump to post

Anyone notice, no predictions about DL expanding in Fresno? DL seems to enjoy their place as the least relevant Big 3 airline for Fresno. Even so, those flights always seem full, and they're usually not cheap. I am a SMF based flyer, not a DL Fanboy (although they are my current choice of airline a...Jump to post
June 8th Thank you. So is this a change in the original deployment plan? I recall that the A220 was coming to DTW, SLC and MSP next on the Texas routes. How is the aircraft flowing to SEA? A220 routes as of June: SEA-SJC x2 SLC-SJC x3 SLC-IAH x3 SLC-DFW x5 MSP-IAH x1 MSP-DFW x2 MSP-EWR x1 DTW-DFW x...Jump to post
I took a look at the American Eagle operation out of JFK compared to last year and the year before. Pretty much everything else went from 50 seaters to 44 seaters. With the high operating cost of 44 seaters and beyond perimter routes getting cut left and right, I don't see how the MQ operation stay...Jump to post
For years, we've been told that the cheapening of the product for legacy airlines has no negative impacts on financial performance. We've been led to believe the opposite actually, that by constantly cheapening the product, it would allow legacies to compete on price which apparently is all anyone ...Jump to post
at hubs obsessing about D:00 will lead to an increase in the most angering sort of missed connections. Couldn’t disagree more; D0 is a critical success factor and by making it a priority, you actually decrease the likelihood of misconnects at hubs. Besides, you’re also arguing that avoiding making ...Jump to post
I'm glad this has mostly stopped. The 15-20 minutes it took for those "who just aren't good at public speaking" to stumble through a list of connecting cities was always annoying. . I remember many a flight, sitting in Row 1, and the FA asking "what is SDF? Whjat is COD". I flew...Jump to post
An awful lot of UA cuts - for example
UA MDT-ORD APR 4>0.7
I don't seem them cutting MDT from 4 daily to less than 1 daily.
Maybe a lot of RJ to mainline or Mainline to RJ changes that weren't filed correctly?
And EnilrIa, thank you so much for this thread every week!
I guess I am becoming an old fart: I still remember a flight on a REAL Aerovias Lockheed L-1049 Super Constellation in 1958 but things get more jumbled in the old brain with the passing of the years, so this is lesson that I should not always trust my 'memory' but should check the source material! ...Jump to post

I can't even get the free messenger to work. I'm trying to think if it was Delta or another carrier I paid for wifi and had no luck. I'm not willing to pay until the systems are upgraded. I had the same problem on DL until I updated the OS on my iPhone. Now it works really well using iMessage.Jump to post

Right...you know, except for adding or re-starting MCO, KOA, SNA, MSY, PHL, RDU, BNA, MCI all since the merger... and they've dropped some Mexican flying, DEN, and seasonally reduced FLL. MSP was tried with an E175 after the merger announcement and was not a VX cut. At the time of the merger, both ...Jump to post
The food service is so terribly slow, granted I was there on a Saturday afternoon, but it was so understaffed. The airport itself is very nice and the easy to transit. I didn't take it as a knock on Frontier - quite the reverse. I've avoided Frontier threads because I've always said that if they became successful I'd duck out. I remember this too. UA pulled out of ELP in the late 80's and returned sometime in the 2000s with regional service to DEN.
Trying to pin blame on AA for a quicker rollout or slower rollout is really not relevant here. The point is United is cutting the quality of the Polaris program. No one is trying to pin anything on AA regarding UAs roll out I'm simply drawing a parallel on the speed. The point of Polaris is not to ...Jump to post
WC10er: This is where UA seems to be headed. And id they lose guys like you, you're talking about losing a lot of $$ on a yearly basis. Music blaring out over the PA is just about the worst thing I can imagine, after constant boarding calls (here's looking at you FRA!). Both SMF and SJC (which, domestically, tend to mirror eachother) have seen significant increases from DL. I don’t think DL will add TATL an...Jump to post
UA2555 is a positioning flight. Interesting, how do you know this? Because UA positioning/charter flights are all 2xxx. Are they going to be running the recorded advertisements throughout their cabins for additional revenue as well? AA pitches credit cards on every flight and I hate it. I was never able to get iMessage texting to work on United and don't fly Alaska. So this is exciting news for me. And free!
The only airline where I have been able to text was Thai Air.
News is 100% correct. Memo was sent out during the week to crews of upcoming changes. Posted info is direct essentially copy/paste from memo. Re the timing of this move: Does it have to do with the losses UA will experience from Harvey? The fact that they seem to be matching prices of the ULCCs, cu...Jump to post
So disheartening to see another ULCC popping up, especially since I was really quite fond of this airline.
